Changing hookbaits at times can be the difference between bites. A bright pop up is easily avoided, a matching bottom bait or wafter can induce pick ups. The key to all of this though is that confident feeding…..this is where I feel that not all baits are equal. How many times do you hear one angler say they can’t catch on bait x yet someone else goes on there and batters them on the same bait! Is the bait faulty or is the blanking angler not getting it right?

I agree with most of what you said but I have had one particular experience that goes against that. I had a bait I was confident in, took it to a new syndicate and struggled, chucked out a cell wafter I had left over in my bag from a French trip and caught 1st cast. Then switched to Live System ( similar to Cell but better value imo) and started catching more consistently. No change to rigs, spots or tactics, just the bait on this occasion. With that in mind I tend to keep an open mind with bait, bit always start with what I am confident in but afraid to change it if needed

Received the pop ups I asked for and got a few extras in there for free them red legends look n smell like there going to be good catchers looking to get out and use them in the next few days thanks again 👍✌

It’s music to my ears when they say it’s a certain type of water. I haven’t been to one yet where a good food bait has failed me. Confidence in any bait or technique is a must

I agree, carp are carp and they are not overly fussy. Put a Half decent bait in the right spot and they will take it.
I ignore what anyone says regarding a lake being a “cell” water or any other bait to be honest and use what I have confidence in.
I’ve never changed bait for a water and never had any problems getting bites.
Use what you have caught on and are confident in on any water and it will work

I don't buy into this Cell water theory. As mentioned below quite often doing something different can give you an edge particularly if what you are using is better quality than the cell.
If you want to turn a pop up into a wafter just drill out a few ml with a nut drill and plug with putty before mounting on a needle. I do this a lot it saves carrying loads of different tubs
of hook baits around and you can balance the 'wafter' perfectly to suit your rig
