In reply to Post #48 I quite liked that second 1 too
I'm just stuck in my ways and not easily disuaded, though my tackle box would disagree with all the components that've never been used

Show off.

I don't watch it to learn anything and there's no chance of latent learning in any vid I watch as I tend to fast forward through rig or bait explanations. I just watch to be entertained with the hope of seeing some nice fish and this series of GFA has failed on both.
I think if OMC seriously attempt a 'in road' into bait it'll be the twig that broke the camels back, I can't see it taking off, but I could be wrong.

I learnt not to watch it.

In reply to Post #43
In one episode I remember him saying something along the lines of - "with 30 years of fishing experience I'm able to smell when carp are in the area.."
With that amount of untapped knowledge we surely have something to look forward to.

In reply to Post #42 Quote....I'm struggling to think of a single thing I've actually learned from The Grand Fishing Adventure episodes.
Well hold on for series two. According to Ali's adverts he's next in line to be curing hook baits after the Magic Twig & park bench etc have not worked out so well. Now he's suddenly a bait expert, better still he's suddenly going to be curing hook baits.
I can't wait to hear Ali's made up version of what we do on TV. I'm flattered Ali, you are 100% reading this. Less than £2 per KG delivered from Europe? Jee whizz.
I sat back and allowed Mark Holmes to do this to us many years ago. Put my head down and cracked on with our business thinking that was the best thing to do. It put us back years. That will not be happening this time.
These guys.....

In reply to Post #40 I remember the anticipation as a kid waiting for the next episode of Go Fishing. I rarely get that anymore with any TV show these days TBH. We also used to make fun of John's laugh but I like to think we were laughing with him more than at him.
In the days of old at least you used to be able to take something away from the fishing programmes, even if they seem a bit crude now. I'm struggling to think of a single thing I've actually learned from The Grand Fishing Adventure episodes.

In reply to Post #40 Dean Macey has the worst laugh for me. Can't watch him at all.

For those who don't think Ali could get any more childish better not watch this series. While a little bit is o.k, it's overkill, even the Mrs was like 'what a .... .
I'm starting to wonder what this black box on the wall is for.
Last night I reminded myself of the 'good old days' by watching Angling Times John Wilsons Top10, the Bream Special....wow...and yet even back then there were those who hated him and his laugh

In reply to Post #38 "Not watched this series of Grand Adventure, to be honest if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't even know it was in"
Maybe give it a go one day if you're bored but please be mindful that you won't get that time back.

In reply to Post #36 I think it's 50/50. I'm definitely with you in that the last couple of series were better without Ali, although I did prefer the original series where they rotated the anglers. Not watched this series of Grand Adventure, to be honest if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't even know it was in

In reply to Post #35 "I found Monster carp less interesting when he was no longer in it."
I found it so much more enjoyable when he wasn't. I quite liked the last few seasons of monster carp. I think Dove & Spooner make a good pair.
Marmite as you say. Maybe I'm in the minority & the majority find him entertaining.

I agree, this series has not been that good. It was particularly rubbish on episode 3, looks like it has been setup for a big finale on the last episode this week. I think that fishing on TV needs to be entertaining, watching people in a bivvy watching their rigs on cameras is boring to me.
The first series was miles better than this, fishing for sharks, catching plenty of big fish from Grenville, etc. It was varied and entertaining so I found it much easier to watch in my opinion.
Ali is a marmite character, sometimes he is funny but other times he is complete muppet with a massive ego. I presume he is acting to try and make the show interesting as he is executive producer, but I found Monster carp less interesting when he was no longer in it.
