The real danger isn’t during the hot weather. Fish will adapt to this with the help of some airation. The real concerns is how this hot spell breaks down. If we have a gradual shift in pressure, temperatures and rainfall then it’s not an issue. However if this hot spell ends with sudden heavy thunderstorms, that’s the real danger. The sudden drop in pressure and water temperature can kill all the algae very quickly. This algae is broken down by bacteria in the water, using up the dissolved oxygen in the process. Causing sudden and dramatic oxygen crashes. We have a breakdown in weather forecast for around the third week of August and there will be a lot of clubs and fishery owners holding their breath. Fingers crossed we get a gradual change in conditions over a week or so.

Generally heavily weeded lakes are less likely to suffer dangerously low oxygen levels than algae dominated waters. That said a completely choked lake isn't ideal and if too much of the weed suddenly dies back at the same time there will likely be low d.o..
Big fish are usually old fish and nothing lasts forever, I'd be more concerned if multiple young fish were dying.

I'd imagine the excessive heat will only add to the normal mortalities for whatever reason, of which there could be many. Have any of the fish been checked for signs of disease or being spawn bound? Were they always that weight?

I've just heard of a 50 which has died on my syndicate water, plus a couple of 40s, has anyone else around the country had the same thing happen ?

It's well after spawning , is this unusually hot Summer to blame .
