My avatar is also 15yrs+ old . . . I don't look a day older of course, but have since stopped wearing silly Diem Camo beanies . . .😉

Know the feeling, been a member nearly 21 years! 19 when I joined and 40 now, no longer have my own teeth and am bald 😂 - more of a reader than a poster nowadays (tried to help a few people and others just jump in and want to argue for some reason - cant be asked!😂)

I've recently fished with a well known chap on here ,lovely bloke and his wife makes a wicked breakfast as well..
Anyway how I visualised him before ,actually meeting was the mental picture I had was similar to the real person,which was good,plus he can fish for sure. .
I asked him same questioned about me ,I was told I'm very outspoken especially on those wonderful bait boat topics ,but in reality I'm very helpful and passionate about fishing ..
Another chap on here doesn't post much never controversial stuff,nice chap,quite possibly one of the best anglers around just written a book too..known him since year dot ,etc..goes to show how different perceptions can be..

I'm a bit more rusty nowadays. Some say it's age but I blame it on Duraglit. It's not as good since they took out one of the ingredients due to carcinogenic concerns.

My avatar is of a capture of the pretty one from Larkfield 2 (Larky) back in 2005. Assume that one is swimming in the big pond in the sky by now?
And yes, I look and feel like I’ve aged 35 years in the last 20 and also put on about 3 stone, which I cannot shift 😂.
Also, it’s funny how you build up a mental image of what some of the regulars look like and then when they put up a photo, somehow you’re completely shocked that they look nothing like you imagined!

On the back of the recent thread about how long people have been Forum members, it seems like a lot of us have been on here for many years.
What I’ve recently noticed is when people post pictures of themselves now, as opposed to their profile pics is how different they look. For want of a better description they have errr….mellowed or become something of a later later vintage 🤣
Of course lots of reasons for this. Favourite avatars with fish could be a memorable fish from many years ago. Some people may have put up a pic of themselves years ago and quite simply never updated it. My own avatar is of a nice fish I caught some 15+ years ago, not a PB but a nice fish now no more. And yes, I no longer look like that.
Thereby is the rub. Many of us know each other through snippets of info let slip on here - age, marital status, specific ethos, beliefs, and even inner thoughts. With all this, if there is a picture of said person on their avatar then this is how we view them. To see them in an up to date picture can be surprising to an extent. One members avatar showed him to be quite new ageish, slightly hippyish, albeit a truly nice guy. Then a recent picture showed this middle aged bloke, pillar of society look and well fed shall we say, definitely not vegan🤣
I can be quite a surprise when pictures reveal the change we’ve gone through.😎ðŸ‘
