I also have the SP C Tech Low Recliner chair . . .the more expensive SP C Tech bed chair buddy is closer to this in terms of materials and comfort - hence why I bought it . . .
TBF if your only using in addition to a day chair then would go for Daiwa Mission or something similar with no legs

I've already got a sp-c tech chair, so I'll probably just get a cheap one without the front legs, as I'll probably only use it when stuck in the bivvy due to bad weather.
You've saved me a few quid, cheers!

I have / have had both . . .IMO the SP C Tech Combi wins hands down and I got rid of the much cheaper South Westerly quick realising I'd made an error . . .
No issue with the bar you mention being un-comfy in bed chair buddy mode with either chair - both also have much longer front legs (than the Trakker Transformer for example) which means they alleviate weight much better if you like your bed itself being at full height extension etc and save potential bedchair sag over time. What this also means is that both chairs are quite high from the ground in chair mode - I'm 6'1" and prefer the height but if you're challenged in this department your legs you might not like it . . .
The SP C Tech is significantly more expensive and slightly heavier however it is significantly more comfortable (in both modes) as it has an 'integrated' lumbar support as well as a higher back so you can put your head back (the SW is much lower and ends parallel with my shoulder blades). The SP C Tech also doesn't have old-skool roller wheels for the back angle adjustment which are a pita IMO and instead has a 5x position 'click' mech that is much easier / quicker to operate during use. Materials on the SP C Tech are also much nicer / plush . . .
My opinion - overnighters under a brolly the Combi will probably do - but then you may as well get a mega lightweight Daiwa Mission jobbie that is way lighter and folds into the bedchair IMO . . . .longer sessions / comfort a priority then the SP C Tech is the one to go for . .

Anyone got one or sat on one in a shop?
From the pics online, it looks like the bar that acts as the back legs when used as a stand alone chair fold up under the seat when used across a bed chair, potentially sticking into the back of your thighs when sitting on it. Is this the case?
