In reply to Post #52 Yes Bob, sound engineer. The other day completely out of the blue, he messaged me a list of Jamiroquai gigs in South America including the Rock In Rio festival. Asked if I wanted free guest list tickets for any of them. Just a lovely person mate.
Yes I make you right about the comments in political threads. But the bottom line is it was trolls who kept returning to the forum again & again after being banned for winding people up over & over again under different users.
Karl is sorting it slowly but surely, it's a thankless task for him. These are good anglers who actually go fishing. The forum needs these blokes, it does not need to lose them and so many others like them. It does not need the troll idiots who target people on here for some sort of enjoyment. There are sooo many great anglers who watch this forum, but will not post at all because of the above. I know, I get told all of the time.
I will pass on your message for sure. Here's a photo of Keebs with a 36lber I posted in the SHB thread a few weeks back.
No worries at all Neil.

In reply to Post #51 It's been a year since Munkyfunk posted, I hope he drops by once in a while.
Keebs is also missed. I think some comments made in some of the political threads put him off but that's all finished now.
He was/is a sound engineer for some of the really big acts and would share some of his stories by PM.
Mark if you get the chance tell them both to reconsider

In reply to Post #50 Rich (MunkyFunk) is well Neil. I have been posting lots of catch photos of him for the past couple of years. Have a load to post of him later when I get a chance from this week. I speak (offline) to so many current members & older ones who no longer post because of the hook baits. So many.
From what I hear often... I would say as soon as the troll situation finally gets resolved you will see a lot of these blokes posting again. Keebs is another. Both lovely, lovely fellas.
Here's Rich (MunkyFunk) with a big UK one from this week Neil.

Simon I believe had enough for a few years then I believe he posted in the last year ?
Greatblondi is still posting etc
I didn’t look on this forum for about 9 months a few years back so sometimes events happen in life and a fishing forum is the least of your worries

In reply to Post #43 Indeed, but in his defense he sometimes has a picture of a fish!
Pimp is still hauling everywhere he fishes.
Stace was cool.
I removed some of the inactive MODs a while back as I didn't want people PM'ing them and the PM sitting there for days/weeks unanswered. They done nothing wrong

In reply to Post #36 Could be wrong but I don't remember them being on here.
We could do them on here but Non Carp is a bit quiet.
I've asked questions asked on Non Carp but they haven't attracted much attention, but with a bit of rewording, making them vaguely fishing orientated, put them in the other sections and you get plenty of replies.

In reply to Post #35 I started the "some things are really annoy me"... and "some things I really love" threads I think.
I am not sure if there were already the same ones on here in the non-carp stuff section.
|
|
|
|
In reply to Post #33 Not sure who that would've been. I know there were some good anglers on there but I kept out of that sort of thing.
There was some good non fishing threads on there.
There was one called 'What Really Winds Me Up' and another 'What Really Cheers Me Up' which could do well on here.
However you could never get away with the one called 'Small or Trash' as it wasn't very PC
Still it's gone but this one remains

In reply to Post #29 It was quite anti CarpForum to be honest but I didn't join in that aspect as I've never had a problem with this forum which is and always been the best.
Yes, Moley and a few others did leave on bad terms, I can't remember being personally involved in the bother, I think back then there were often arguments between MODs (there were lots of MODs (and problems!) due to how busy the site was)
I'm very much of the opinion that people can go do what they like, as long as they're not lying about a situation/person and spreading it to try to gain favour/support.
That has happened in the past too (won't name him!) but he's left a trail of failed attempts at a few different businesses and I do enjoy watching from the side lines as he tries to promote his next bull**** venture with only a very small following of ring-piece-tongue-punchers commenting on his FB posts

In reply to Post #28 I was part of Moley's forum.
It was quite anti Carpforum to be honest but I didn't join in that aspect as I've never had a problem with this forum which is and always been the best.
I joined Facebook to be part of a Carpingabroad group but that was short lived. I've kept the account but don't do fishing on there
I've been a member of other forums but they've all gone now and so I'm please to see thanks to Karl Carpforum is still going strong.
I did bump into Brian Wolsey on FB but not to do with fishing. He lives in the Woolwich area of London and we spoke about Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and how we have both suffered.
That was about 5 years ago

In reply to Post #23 Moley went off to start his own forum. I still message him very occasionally
CarpyPat passed away :( There was a post in the Mod area Jan 2023
Merl was cool, see the odd post from him on FB now and again
Beave is still fishing and he's in some WhatsApp groups with me/Muzza and others
Ken - I did message him a few years back when I heard he was ill but never got a reply, maybe I had the wrong mobile number. I do think of him often.
OldGeezer - Yes, was in WhatsApp groups with him too. We have him to thank for LinkyPoo...I added that functionality after he passed as a little tribute

In reply to Post #15 I posted this on another thread/topic a few days back.
Pete B now lives In Thailand and Dean has retired and spends much of his time in India, so rumour has it on facebook. Not sure what took them both to different parts of Asia?
latest news from one of Petes closest friends is that he is recovering well. He has a new woman and is loving life in Thailand having built a large home with plenty of land. Dean is on projects helping the needy in India working with under privleged families .
I hope this helps?
|

In reply to Post #14 Whilst we are on the subject of Pete and dean , is anyone in contact with them or know what they are doing now , I know Pete had been unwell.

In reply to Post #1 Paul Tant. That was Rivers name. Yes. Now I remember him. Really nice gentleman that used to do a lot of French fishing I do believe. Did he not used to test baits for Pete and Dean back in the day? I remember/ seeing a thread on the Pete B. mix a while back and he seemed to know a lot about the make up of this bait. If I am not mistaken, he was one of the first to test it?
Could be wrong, but I,m sure it is the same Gentleman in question.

In reply to Post #7 Did he take down his photos or are they no longer visible because of where they were hosted?
Anyway, I hope he gets to know we are all thinking of him ❤

Sad to hear about Ken's circumstances. Really enjoyed Ken's writings on France and bait. Shared a bit of a laugh a few years ago about his alter ego, Tony Wenkle!
|
|
|
|
Here's wishing Ken all the best. He was one of the first anglers I looked up to through his early writings in Carpworld, Nutrabaits annual bait catalogue etc. On College resi and Par fishponds with his wife Carol and the like. His knowledge on bait is second to none. Let's hope The Salty sea dog keeps on keeping on..
|
|
|
|
It's very sad. If you do Faceache Kens profile isn't private.
I just hope he's coping, it doesn't bare thinking about, though I can imagine him fighting it all the way.
Thinking of you.

In reply to Post #5 Really gutted to hear that Ken is ill. I hope he gets better soon.
He has probably forgotten more than I have ever known about carp fishing. Man is an absolute legend in the carp fishing industry.

|
|

Unfortunately Ken has taken down a lot of his photo’s such a shame
Get well soon ken

In reply to Post #5 Ken is an absolute legend in carp fishing. I have the utmost respect for him. So sorry to hear that he has been unwell. Followed his advice and always looked forward to reading ANYTHING he published.
He is missed for sure.
Thank you for your input and help Mr Townley.

|
|

In reply to Post #3 Ken has been ill,..plus coupled with his dislike of modern carp fishing ,he doesn't post on here any longer..
Up till recently we kept in touch ,but not heard anything lately,I know a lot of people hold him in high regard as I do ,not only is he the ultimate bait brain ,he's also the godfather of carping in my county..
He offered me his kit ,that's all im prepared to say ...
Adam..

In reply to Post #1 Mr Magoo is still about , fished waterside with him in march. Top bloke. Rivers I believe has all but given up carp fishing after moving away from Herts.

I always wonder what happened to Ken Townley.
Absolute legend and his knowledge on Particles was second to none.
|
|
|

In reply to Post #1 Rivers was a top fella. Loved reading his posts from the sidelines. Also Magoo. Not Familiar With Dean. aka (Elephant man)
Lots come and go and I would suspect are looking in from the sidelines. Probably more than we know.

I was just thinking about some old regular posters that disappeared.
1, Mr - Magoo fantastic knowledge of old skool carping and a friend of Kevin Ellis .
2, River was a lovely bloke with a knowledge of fishing rivers abroad
3, Dean aka elephant man just disappeared
