It's got to be air drying for longer for me. They will soften up once in the water anyway.
Maybe not dried to bullets just a little longer that you usually do.
I wouldn't want to alter the mix if you have confidence in it.

In reply to Post #7 Don't worry about harder boilies.
These carp crunch crayfish so their pharyngeal teeth can easily manage a hard 20mm.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Not looking to coat the baits, more looking to add powders to the mix before rolling, just to firm them up slightly, but still be easy for the fish to eat and break down quickly on the lakebed or in their guts.

In reply to Post #4 That's reminded me, The od Glycerin based glugs do a simular thing. Harden, and also preserve.

In reply to Post #1 The old L0-30 used to firm baits up if coated lightly, something similar perhaps?

In reply to Post #1 5 percent whey gel. Or egg albumin. You can use blood powder aswell but it will mask any flavour you have. Not used blood plasma but may do a similar job.
I personally use a mix of whey and egg albumin. Hard baits that soften up in a few hours. Worth drying a bit longer aswell.

In reply to Post #1 Add some egg albumen. And make the paste a bit firmer.

After a bit of help from the experts please.
I’ve been home rolling AA Baits’ HNV Fishmeal mix for the last couple of years and am really happy with it, except when I need to bait up with the throwing stick in a big wind. I’m getting a lot of baits splitting, which I can eradicate by wetting the baits/stick, but that massively reduces the achievable distance and accuracy, as the baits slide out of the stick, rather than rolling out of it.
I’m not looking to add more weight to the bait with limestone flour etc, nor am I looking to essentially turn them all into hardened hookbaits by adding extra egg albumen or such like, but is there something I can add to the mix which will bind the mix a bit firmer for throwing stick use, without turning them to bullets which the carp may find a chore to eat? I’m not looking to give them toothache lol! Maybe something like more CLO in the mix will just bind it a bit better perhaps?
