In reply to Post #110 I always thought it was 2000, but according to my profile page I registered on my birthday 2001 (which I doubt happened in reality)
I see some of the original members registered in Jan 2002, so maybe the dates in the page footer are correct.
So 25 year anniversary in a few months?

In reply to Post #110 I think it was 2002.
Be interesting to know how many of the originals still post.

February 2010 16 year's ago
Crazy how time flies . COVID was 6 years ago when
Toilet rolls was worth more than gold.
Brexit happened and we all realized that taking bait over
To France was a nightmare and tomorrow is the 6th of June
D-day for anyone who has a passion for history 82 years ago
How the UK has changed and Europe to that end.
I'm still fishing a little more now than I ever did I suppose getting older
Has it's advantages as you realize time is more important than
Anything else. The clock is ticking if you want to do something
Do it now. Not everyone gets to see tomorrow

The funny thing about this thread, when you've been on here a while, you see people saying they haven't posted for YEARS....and you think hold on...you posted yesterday

In reply to Post #50 Quote.... Most are probably to old to get there heads around Insta or Tiktok or any other forms of social media the kids use these days
The dumbing down of humanity you mean?
Instagram = Look at the pretty photo's, because you can't spell four letter words.
TikTok = Watch the retarded videos that last no longer that 10 seconds, because you can't spell four letter words & you also now have the attention span of a snail.

I've been here a while too.
I think I do have some little enamel badges left, happy to send some out to long suffering members...if the price of the stamp is covered (they're so flipping expensive nowadays and I already run the site at a financial loss to myself each month )
With care, the pin part on the back of the enamel can be prized off, you then just get a nice flat metal Carp with can be glued onto stuff (I used to have one on my monitor bevel in ye olde days)

In reply to Post #50 Most are probably to old to get there heads around Insta or Tiktok or any other forms of social media the kids use these days...
How very dare you
More a case of we dont give a sheet what others are doing, and are happy in our own little world without any need or want of adulation from others, or giving it to 'today's stars/ tomorrows has beens'.
But if you like social media good on you, enjoy, each to their own

In reply to Post #50 Maybe Karl’s can Send some branded CF tops or pin badges (if any left) to some sponsored anglers for them to promote the site

Lot of people on here still with 20 odd years of posting behind them.. which is good to see.
Most are probably to old to get there heads around Insta or Tiktok or any other forms of social media the kids use these days...
Though I do use Insta and Facebook for a Carpy chat from time to time. I find the forums far less clutted. To much noise on the Socials at times. We all know what we're on here for. It's a shame some more won't join us..Maybe a recriutment drive is in order

Am i the only one who joined, rather than just looking in, because the mags. Became too full of the same cycle of rehashed articles, and increased prices I've been catching carp since 1975. Most of what has been published since the hair has been irrelevant. Rig evolution is fine, but it requires a knowledge of the lake you are fishing at the time. Even the swim on that lake, or the half of that swim that the fish will pick up from. The buggers that catch the bigguns on a regular basis are not geniuses. They are the people who can be on the bank at the right time and in right place at the right time a modicum of understanding of animal behavior helps. We don't all have to do a Rod Hutchinson and push peas around the carpet with our noses to understand carp feeding behavior. It's all out there the big benefit of being a human is , we learn from the experience of our forebears.
More original thought and less sheepism is what we need.
God bless the original thinkers. If you are one, don't sell out keep it to yourselves

When did the Forum start? Any OG,s on here still from day dot.??
Maybe Karlos can come on here and give us a brief history of the Forum. Why he started it, what kind of traffic was it getting at its peak. Famous members etc. Correct me if I'm mistaken. This Forum has to be the last of its kind. Or the only one that gets regular traffic still. Lot of History here. Plenty of knowledge passed on over the years, that's for sure.
