No joy from Felindre, sthey're saying the same handle for XTBs and XTDs but like 15 years ago no alternatives ie: a 4000/5000 medium match reel handle has the same shamk but with a 50mm arm.

I'll email Plat in Japan..thank heavens for VPN it wouldn't come up in the UK search.
Pretty sure they used to do all of the custom parts and may possibly know if there is an interchangeable handle from a JDM reel

Hi there,
I've got Shimmy 5500 XTDs and got a set of folding handles from Weston, price was a bit OTT but had them a year or so now and absolutely love them, also had no issues at all.
Spot on.

err yes, skimmed past those very quicky I don't dislike the OE handles that much
I'd want all three for that price.

crap folders on the XTBs, for everything Shimano do right they sure do supply the worst handles.

Was fairly sure that there were short handles, perhaps not 5500 XTB/XSB but compatible.

Cheers.
I've looked at the Weston site, an email might provide an answer.
Again Shimano Felindre might help although I'm pretty sure they weren't back then.

Used to be a Japanese company that did all the custom stuff like 55mm handles- although the sal****er guys usually go for longer,
web search has turned up nothing useful, Gomexus, JDM reels etc

I'm thinking about moving onto a different pit and whilst I would like to keep fishing with my 2.5s and SS2600s I have a feeling that the extra distance and weed might need a change up.

Was up in the loft giving my old 3.25 NCSs and 5500 XTBs ' baby blues' the once over and pretty much straight away thought how disproportionately long the handles were.

Pretty sure I looked for shorter handles back then, but where am i likely to get parts for 15 year old reels?
