Sonik Ultrasonic Snood is a cheap sal****er leader material available in different diameters. There is also the sal****er mono from Sonik in clear.
No experience on these sorry but being sal****er lines the assumption is they cannot be bad for leaders. Should also be easily available contrary to the Daiwa line.

Other than that I am just using 0,38 oder more so the 0,45mm (25lbs) Berkley Big Game in green or clear. Very cheap and it has never let me down either as mainline or as leader for decades.

If you're happy, your happy

I'd be trying a different knot, but I like wasting yards of material for no good reason Last night I was looking up how to tie a grinner for a repeatable a fixed length hooklink, also if there are any longer loop typers then the Stonfo one I use...keeps the old grey matter alive I guess

Bothers me when you see matchmans fixed length hooklink boxes...all perfect in a row, exactly the same size...I need rig tying ststion...but I won't forgo my tag ends...oh no

So i tied the amnesia to a chod hook using a knotless knot and a figure of eight at the other end , best i could get was 15 lb , some went at hook some went at figure of eight end , not that i'dcexert 15lbs pressure with a rod so im fairly happy with that

What do you want from a mono hooklength?
Many years ago i dabbled with trilene XL, and XT, but ended up using 12lb big game green.

With the advent of Ronnie rigs and supple braid combi rigs, lads using stiffer hooklength material like amnesia, IQ or even snag leader material there are so many options.
Im not sure I'd ever need to tie a hook directly onto mono again.
I suppose a mono D rig is the most straightforward one, anti tangle and some subtle movement at the bait end.

I have used 25 and 30lb amnesia, and added a doubled over supple braid combi so I can get the anti tangle properties for a big chuck, subtle presentation, and convenience of easy changing hooks when needed.

The big bonus of an amnesia type hooklength with a Ronnie or combi multi is you dont need lots of rigs tied as the component parts are reusable and you just need to change the hook.
It can be pulled straight and reused if kinked, unlike mono.

For strength it would have to be Trilene XT.

For suppleness I'd say Maxima Chameleon..breaking strain is up to you.

Almost every rig I've used in the last 18 years has been tied with mono.
I've used Amnesia, Catana, Technium, Bulletproof, and a few others and haven't noticed any difference in catch rates. Basically, if I'm happy to use it on my reels I'm happy to use it for my hooklength.
Amnesia spools do sit nicely in my tackle box and are refilled with mainline once empty.

This one is incredibly strong on knots. With a 300m spool it's enough for many years !

It was just a random link that I could post on my phone mate, not sure why I couldn't post others?
From the look of it, it's a tippet material, I'm imagining for fly fishing in flats for things like Bonefish, it's a low as £10 if you shop around, different manufacturers do the same, with Rio you tend to pay for the name though it's very good stuff.

@tatuusfr, links, copy the web link and put it in your post for us to link for you.

If you want to try it yourself, put your link in the reply, highlight it left to right then click the 2 arrows on left hand side of page next to 'web Link' directly above smileys

EDIT, Team Daiwa Salt water mono returns nothing here in the U.K easily, there's Tounament, SLR, Sensor, ST and probably others I've missed.

Just thinking aloud,

Unless using the wrong knot and 0.5mm is breaking well under its breaking strain, when would you ever exert the sort of strength to break 0.5mm mono using a rod and reel for Carp fishing ?

Does that mono have better abrasion resistance, strength isn't the same? EDIT, re read, I saw you said it was better

@ scozza, if it ain't broke for me why fix

Edit, Daiwa Saltiga maybe ?

Team Daiwa Sal****er mono for exemple. You can break a 0,50mm Amnesia with 2 knot pullers but not with the TDS... incredibly strong... 9.10kg vs 20.2kg you can step down to 0,40mm TDS at 13.2kg

Pretty sure 15lb is 0.40 so will be fine. It has good abrasion resistance.

+1, don't see any reason to change. I did dabble with others but always came back to amnesia.
