In reply to Post #11 Both depend on the mix, but a general guideline could be 5-7% of plasma and 300-400ml of liquids.

In reply to Post #10 How much plasma / water combination would you need to replace the eggs?

In reply to Post #8 Both are able to replace eggs

In reply to Post #8 apparently so
it gels quickly and gives the finished bait a firm outer skin leaving the centre soft allowing the bait to still leak its attractors effectively. Light in colour and also aroma-free, making for a great ingredient for mixes where a neutral smell is required.
No idea if plasma is s a total replacement, never used it.,
Had tried the no liquid egg approach before, personally I thought water with whole egg and blood powder in the base made it a dry mix. Perhaps the fresh fats in the yolk?
Don't know how I missed it but AA has standard WPC80 at £12.50 .not HG,
I've ordered some, just a confidence thing, personal feeling is that the bait is good as I make it so why change.
Haven't rolled this for 13 years but a couple of one egg mixes tweaking liquid ratio and it's coming out of the mixer spot on.

Isnt bloody plasma another alternative without the colour and taste of blood powder?
Can you use blood powder or plasma as an alternative to using egg? Just using the heat from boiling the baits to set the paste?

In reply to Post #6 I'll look into ordering some, next week, a case of maximising shipping without buying stuff for the hell of it.

In reply to Post #5 You can reduce your cooking time much more due to the addition of bloodpowder.
I would go for 45-55sec for 16mm

In reply to Post #3 What are the other gardeners in the mix?
In the past been using 40-50 gram on a mix in combination with egg powder.
20g albumen, 20g WPC, just enough skin to stick out.
Looking at Bacarel. Soya isolate- £8/kg...rubbery but two birds with one stone?
I didn't get on with a blood/whole egg mix as a replacement for liquid egg, whilst 16mm cooking time was down to 1.30 found that it was either comparatively dry or very hard.

In reply to Post #2 Feel your pain with the WPC80 prices. £23.95 my last kilo was.
I May follow your lead when I use up my WPC80.
Even some other alternatives like WPC35 or Blood Plasma are around £10/ kilo.
AA ran out, then Bacarel ran out..
They have just listed two new 80%s and a 60%.. starting at £15 down to £10 if you buy 4kg..which admittedly is inclusive of post.
Not sure that i actually need 4kg tho.
I bought some WPC35 for a birdfood base, if anything a sticky mix became sticker and was very dry when boiled.

In reply to Post #1 25g isn't a bad starting point, could be used between 1% all the way up to 10%.

looking to replace WPC80, with blood powder in a fishmeal base mix.
Have used it before and I preferred the softer gelling of whey instead of hardening thoughout but I'm just not paying 20 quid a kilo.
Not too fussed about darkening the baits, but solubles are already high.
Fishing day sessions only so not really a problem if it's mush after 24hrs but I will need to be able to stick the freebies out.
Functional starting point...25g/kg?
