In reply to Post #5 Interesting...Thanks, maybe I'll give it a try
I'm on the 27lb whiplash, and the windknots are tiresome at times. I'd put it down to user error, maybe there's more to it.

In reply to Post #6 Not sure what the ngt is like for casting because I bought it to see how it sank seeing as it is called sinking braid...I've seen less bouyant popups!...it is cheap braid though I got three spoils of 300m for £28

TBH the only time I fished with braid my and others I was with all got cheap NGT in 30lb. No problems at all with it, cast well, no fraps or coming off the spool and nesting.
Gonna transfer some to my spod rod, and add a leader to see how it performs on there.

In reply to Post #4 Whiplash in 20lb is unusable for me. I spent ages thinking it was me, trying to change my casting style, went through 2 butt rings that had the ceramic ripped out, tried loads of different types of leaders and knots etc, Suffix 832 I cast in the field totally dry, don't pay any attention to where the leader knot is, and very very rarely crack off. Sometimes it really is your gear and not a talent issue
It would either frap up and crack off on the cast, or several loops would come off at any point in the cast. 25lb whiplash was slightly better, but still awful in comparison.
Black velevet gets good reviews i could just never find it in stock.

I've got:-
Whiplash 8 on the spod rod, and Gardner hydrosink distance on the fishing rods.
No complaints with either, but definitely get more wind knots with the whiplash unless it's ringing wet.

Suffix 832 is what I last spooled up with and it's the best I've used yet. I got the advice from here to use it and it's great.

In reply to Post #1 how far do you need to go, and are you worried about sinking braid / neutral buoyancy etc.
the Berkley whiplash 8 casts so well. the 32lb is on my spod reels and can't fault it
