Just use a quick clip. Then loop your rig rather than tying a swivel directly on to it. It's a much better way imo . Makes the Palomar easy, and means you can change rigs without tying any more knots

I find all those tests so unrelatable to real life. I don't want numbers, they don't mean anything to me. Set up the rod as you would when fishing, hook into a tree and pull. You can put more force than you ever would against a fish and really get a feeling for what a knot will take.
Generally I find they fail really early, or not at all, not really a middle gound. Pallomar always wins though. It's just an ugly knot imo. If knot aesthetics are your think

Palomar is ok for that, make the loop a bit bigger & pass the rig through.

Yep. Come to that conclusion too that there was stretch between fish and rod/ reel. Never really worried about it before.
Was just fretting getting a new line on and starting again and getting onto a big fish water.

There’s going to be a lot more stretch in 20 yards of line compared to 20 foot and more in 20 foot than 20 inches.
I Can honestly say I have never worried about a knot parting on mono.
Braid, I might be a little different and I might take a little bit more care but not so much as I would feel the need that I have to test it.
Hook length to a swivel will always be a grinner
Hook length to a quick connect swivel will always be a figure 8.
You testing the knot will always be more than a fish will put on it through a rod.

Thanks. Think I started that thread too 🙈
Just getting frustrated and there was mention of Gardner GT- HD not liking the grinner.
Should have mentioned that I’m tying the main line to the rig swivel so palomar, as most people suggested, would be a bit difficult.

I’ve been watching few tubes and see people using rig pullers to test bed down knots.
I recently loaded my reels with a new brand of line and thought I’d give it a knot strength test.
To do this I took a say 15/20” section of line and tied a swivel at each end with a grinner then used two rig pullers to test the line.
Would this be the right way to do it as it didn’t take to much force to break one of the knots/ line?
