I have had several sets of 10ft rods including custom built and still maintain that the Ultimate Bionic in 10ft 3.5tc are as good, if not better than any I have owned and the price is a bonus.
Had fish to 47lb on them from both bank and boat.

I had the fox 10ft horizon x, pencil thin blanks,.amazing rods but through my own stupid fault snapped a tip on one and couldn't find a replacement to match.
I replaced these with a set of wychwood extricator plus and absolutely love these to play fish on.....amazing rods that out perform their price tag by a long way.
initially I wasnt keen on the foam type shrink but now I love it...I picked these up on a steal of.a.price too from gerrys angling.
im still using my torrix where im fishing at present due to not knowing which swim ill be fishing, one day its under the tip, next day you may be moving and need 30 wraps but if I had a choice it would be 10ft everytime

those extricator plus rods are my favorite rods by a country mile
rarely use anything else nowadays

If it's pack down size, I use the sonic retractable 12ft rods, they pack down same size as the 10ft scope. I found the pros of 10/9ft rods don't outweigh the cons, and I've been left feeling a little stuck sometimes, it's not casting, it's when the bank is Reed lined and deep margins, or heavy weed it's harder to get the line out the water.
I dont personally find 10ft rods that much better in a boat, I'm convinced people only say that because they for some reason use a 3 ft landing net.
I wish more companies made a 12ft retractable. The pack down size is where the appeal of short rods is for me, when I get my 13ft rods out if feels like I'm trying to put a lamp post in the van.

Indeed, fully converted since 2016. The more compact transport dimensions and my type of fishing are fit for it.
I’ve got a set of 3 and 2.75lb.
A 3.5lb test curve is overkill in my opinion.
If casting is an issue, just use 12 or 13ft rods.
10ft rods are ‘close quarter’ rods or used in combination with boat/baitboat.
10ft rods are lovely for boat use. You have so much more control during netting.

I had some 9ft 3lb scopes for a while. They had a great action and you could still cast 70 odd yards easily. If you don’t need range I wouldn’t go higher than 3lb TC

You don't have to spend loads on them. The first set of 3 that I got were £70. That was about 8 years ago, they were Daiwa G50. They were fine, but I gave these my youngest about 4 years ago. I replaced them with some Avid ones, they were a bit dearer, about £70 a rod, but still not earth shatteringly expensive . But these too have been fine. And if you don't get on with them, just sell them on. Depending on how good a deal you get in the first place, you'll recover at least half your money.

I have been using Nash scopes in 10ft 3lb rods for a good few years now and they are joy to use lovely to play fish on I would go down to 2 3/4lb or 3lb

It seems most who have commented are completely converted . It would be such a big space saver in the van .
I’m just worried about not enjoying using them as much as the 12ft rods (them being too stiff)

Yeah, 10 footers for me every day of the week. I have relegated my 12 footers to piking, but I have some 12' 9" teamed with big pit reels for distance work. The 10 footers just feel so much better to handle than a longer rod.

i will confess to also loving the 10ft rods (or shorter) .... I dont do that much stillwater carp fishing these days but do more specialist river fishing from bank and boat.
I did try some 3lb Sonik Extrators a few years ago and really didnt like them, and so bought some 8ft Drennan Stalkers in 2.75lb which are much nicer for when i carp fish on the river
For everything else (non carp) I now have rods in 6ft and 10ft in 1lb to 2lb test curves and all retractable and they are all a joy to transport and use (and without breaking the bank!) . Im definitely a convert! .... For me though is keep the test curve as light as possible (i dont fish great distances or big bags)

I went though a few set of 10ft rods until I settled on the tackle box cfx. They got ceramic rings so I use them for piking too.
Much nicer to use IMO. Only grief I have with 10ft rods is when fish kite round reeds or other bankside snags. You really miss the 12 footer then

I bought some Wychwood Extricator Plus 3lb rods in 10 foot some years back and since then my sets of 12', 12'6 and 12'9 rods have hardly been used.
My 10 footers have SS2600 with .33 mono on them and it's a light setup that's a joy to use. I have used them from under the tips to boating out rigs 200m and have handled fish to over 40lb.
Recently I had a trip where I brought some different rods. 12' and 12'9 with big pits on and my 10 footers with the smaller reels. The shorter rods felt so much nicer to hold.
If you need to cast big distances then the 12-13 foot rods obviously have their place, but if you only fish short to medium range or boat your rigs out then I would take a 10 foot rod any day.
If you don't cast pva bags with full force then 3lb is enough - if you do you probably need a 3.5lb - but then again test curve alone doesn't always give the right picture.
I have cosidered retractables but I think to get the real benefit of pack down size you have to go for the 9 footers.
Edit: With regards to the Kaizen Green 3.5lb then you can see them in action in the "Revenge in Hungary" film from Korda. They do seem to bend nicely.

I've just got the Sonik gravitys in 10ft 3lb..and they are slightly pokey as they are a casting rod, but perfect for my local lake where 100 yards is the max cast. I had 9ft 3.25lb insurgents before and they couldn't quite get me to the 100 yards..but we're lovely to play fish on.
The gravitys can be bought for just over £50 a rod at the moment, which I think is an absolute bargain (I bought 5)

Hi guys , looking for some opinions and if possible reviews
Iv been threatening to buy 10ft rods for a while . Just so I’m clear the ONLY reason I’m looking at them is for the compact pack down . I like my 12ft rods but want something more compact for my french trips
My concern , they will feel horrible to use . How can you get 3.5lb TC abd still retain a decent action in such a length ?
Currently looking at Sonik extractor plus 3.5lb (these are really reasonably priced)
Kaizen 10ft 3.5lb
Does anyone own any of these and have any views ?
I don’t really need them to cast distance , will use inflatable for that
