You could see how the fatigue was affecting his planning and decision making.
Rods out early but no life jacket on, swapped rods but not butt rests, etc.
Not over edited, so happy to show he's human after all.
Finally "unlocked the code"

But hes got a whole team to ensure his sesh is successful in the background.

"I enjoy how muddled he gets, would be so easy to edit all those things that happen to us all and make him look like a perfect angler."

Like having a rod nearly pulled in, & forgetting to turn your alarms up...

As you say, it happens to us all, but we rarely care to admit it in public.

Or maybe that's just me...?

Sssssshhh..

I enjoy how muddled he gets, would be so easy to edit all those things that happen to us all and make him look like a perfect angler.

I think if I had his resources and access to some of these waters I'd tinker more than I do already, nowadays I've kind of got something that works and don't have the time to try out new things just in case it is worse than what I already do.

He and his company have come an incredibly long way from those original underwaters they did and fair play to him too 👌

My experience with Danny was the same. I met him at a lake when he was visiting a friend of his there. He seemed like really lovely, interesting bloke, and he was great, relaxed company.

Exactly this (only just spotted this thread)

I have nothing against Danny so feel a bit rotten for saying this, but that really got my goat. All this cracking the code shizzle. Didn't work on that Dutch water where he ended up crying on video and Dove/Spooner just went in and caught on whatever rig they would usually use...

Different fish feed in different ways (or so we are told when certain fish are harder to catch) - so there is no code in my opinion. Most rigs will work if you get the fish competing for the bait and 'troughing it down'...which is what happened when you're piling it in before bedtime and then resting the swim overnight.

He's a genuinely nice guy. Years ago I randomly met him and Tom D in a pub in Newcastle. Tom was just a whippersnapper and came across as really shy (a far cry from how he comes across nowadays), but Danny was brilliant company.

"as annoying as lots of the things Danny does, he is still a likeable chap"

He is likeable, I agree.

I think he's mostly successful because of his personality & enthusiasm, rather than his actual angling abilities.

He's just a big nerd, much like the rest of us..

Albeit a wealthy nerd now, but IMO he deserves it.

I think most of us enjoyed it, it's good entertainment, as annoying as lots of the things Danny does, he is still a likeable chap. But it is not educational, the situation is not equitable to a normal fishing session, which is understandable, he's trying to make a film.

Changing the length of a stiff rig a couple of inches doesnt really change the hooking properties IMO. Thats something you do with soft hooklinks. Far better off playing with the buoyancy/shape of the bait, hook size/pattern, or better yet, the hair/bait to hook seperation.

But first, set up you feckin indicators properly, so you can tell the difference between a liner, a bream, crayfish and a carp.

Tight clutch, tight line, and a super light indicator with no travel, he has mentioned himself before why he does it, because he thinks it looks good when he gets a run. Again proving fishing for the cameras and fishing normally are completely different.

I think if you're still ****ing about with rigs mid session after 40 years of fishing, it's not the rigs that are the problem.

The music in these vids are a bit dramatic sometimes, I feel.

He's fishing, not wingsuiting down from Mount Everest..

Cast out rigs he always uses. Tweaks the rigs to try "unlock the code." Change the rigs back to the way they were when he started. Claim to have cracked the code.

I think Korda need to change the format a little bit with these videos.

They’re becoming a bit too predictable.

His reels were also annoying me as I couldn't work out what they were? Basia Customs with folding Weston Handles? Bit unnecessary for 10' rods at 40yards . .

Yes . . lol - uncommonly known (in my world anyway - any rig that has more than a handful of components) is an 'Xmas Tree' rig . . .ie louds of baubles and a bit of glitter with a fairy on top

Some serious stock in that lake; looks like a nice place to spend a bit of time.. He could do with a masterclass in using a boat though..!!

I agree, but his catch rate imo wasn't what the normal person can expect because they wouldn't be given the same special access to a new swim where the fish are known to hold up...if that makes sense. Fairly sure if that swim stays open it'll be VERY popular to say the least

EDIT, @ Aidey, and there was me thinking that rig was unusually less complicated...for Korda ...I'd just use a stiff boom straight through...surely not...no crimps or nuffink

The what?

Is this the latest 10 component miracle rig?

At the end he literally alluded to it, saying that the way he fished and the conditions last time didn't reflect the lake and the stock fully and how special of a place it was

he only went back to do the lake justice after the previous video showed it to be a lot harder and less prolific.

I'm not sure it showed that though. He was allowed to fish a new swim where he could access the fish at 40 odd yards v the 350 from the previous vid, it's not really any surprise he did a lot better (if you take for granted good angling). On the plus side the new swim should at least push the fish away from that area to the benefit of other anglers, unless they have another safe zone they will push in to.

I wonder what the result might of been if fishing through the night?

I think he would be first to admit that to be honest. And when you look at his fishing through the years of TT and underwaters you can see why he has such a methodical approach to his fishing when on camera.

I actually liked the video a lot, and by the end it came across as he only went back to do the lake justice after the previous video showed it to be a lot harder and less prolific.

I personally think that he's just not a natural like some of korda's anglers are (daryl peck, Tom Stokes for example). That's the vibe I get any way.

He's clearly a great businessman and big thinker though and puts a massive amount of thought and effort into his angling, which is probably why a lot of the more resilient developments and marginal gains in carp angling over the last decade or so have come from Korda

I quite like the vids when he's not with the usual cling-ons - still get the odd 'pukkaa' but it feels more genuine - enjoyed the latest Hungary vid but being cynical its in his interest to keep pushing xmas tree rigs so he's forgiven . . .some stunning big fish tbf.

Only bit that annoyed me was his backrest bs - either use the smaller P1s / some rod lockers or simply get some Neville Ball clips whipped on . . .that and his lifejacket gilly lol

He just never convinces me that he's even convinced himself re the rig changes 🤣
And not putting a initial bait over the bubbles, he said it himself, bit self determined, I liked his honesty in this one, he seems more relaxed.
