Must be a lot of anglers willing to pay as it seems all the Embryo waters waiting lists are closed.

This was to show transparency in the waiting list , if you are number 10 on the list , people who know the bailiffs will not jump in front of you, unlike other waters ! Works well 👍

I'll stand to be corrected, but I'm pretty sure that I have heard DF say that the Embryo waters will be held in a non-profit trust when he shuffles off and not passed on to his family.
Having said that I'm sure his millions£ invested and owed to him by Embryo works out well as a tax write off...............

You guys talking like it's all being done at some massive loss just for the good of carp fishing do realise that land is about the best investment that there is, right? No one is losing any money whatsoever. They are far to clever for that. Rich people buy land. It's a smart investment. It promotes generational wealth, not for a quick return.

Not implying Danny, or Korda, but that's how REALLY rich people keep their money & pay very little tax. You buy assets, tie the money up, then you often borrow on those assets. Danny will be most interested in how to pass his earned wealth onto his children. And so he should too.

Yes Korda are doing a lot to secure lakes. They are the without question the best fishing company around. Good luck to them. They have earned all that. But don't try to kid people that it's all for nothing, like some kind of charity, as that is simply not true whatsoever. It's not getting you moved up the waiting list any quicker haha. Intelligent people do not invest money for nothing.

Danny is clearly an intelligent person. Good luck to him, he deserves it. It's been earnt.

100% korda have pumped millions into it with little to no return
On the investment no other company would do that ever
Korda is a great company started from nothing employees people in the UK
And Europe. Creating jobs and paying tax into the system
An everything in-between. Hats off to korda
In an ever changing world of ups and downs they keep going
Looking at it in a business sense I think it's amazing
You need to understand what it takes . you have to admire
It .. I do ..

Korda clearly is a commercial company and operates how any company would. But I do believe Embryo is trying to do the right thing. It's clear that Danny has put a lot of money into it and is getting no return on that. He doesn't have to, I don't see the owners of any other fishing brand doing anything similar.
Embryo also provide fencing services at discounted rates for clubs.

I may not always agree with how they manage waters (getting rid of weed in particular) but I do think they've done a lot to preserve some great carp fishing without profit as a primary goal.

I think you could be spot on about the Cemex sell off, it would make perfect sense for both parties.

I very much doubt that they'll be looking for small waters, they just don't generate enough revenue from angling. There will be the odd exception, but generally they're more suited to clubs, genuine syndicates or hobbyists like myself.

I wonder if cemex was broken up now would Embryo just have snaffled them all up?

I do think it would be a good thing to see one or two embryo waters around the south too, plenty of pits and smaller ponds that are surely prime for buying?

Are Korda / Embryo really that altruistic?

In my opinion, they will always put money first and prioritise the company over the average members – but they have the funding and resources, so there's not much anyone can do about it, is there?

Unless another benevolent millionaire steps in to shake things up, this is probably just how the industry is going to stay.

They got hold of a nice, unfished pit, not far from mine a while ago Cam.
I heard that it won't be open for memberships, just Korda employees and another group who supplied some stock from a water that was closing down.

Yes all venues are the same, mentions so many being bought it's having a financial impact. Renewal price also up £90. Can understand why, but also perhaps some advance communication rather than just with the renewal email would have been better?

They were quarries fished by the few who knew what they held. Left alone to be enjoyed by those who wanted simple fishing away from the crowds.

No otter predation, just money and a monopoly.

Same goes with a new water not far from there. The club that leased it couldn't get permission to night fish it. Two years later after getting chucked off there's a stocked 47, two new dug lakes and nights allowed. All available on swim booker.

Money talks.

As far as I can tell, anything in Kent with big fish is always expensive.
I'm not in a position this year but been looking around for next year for me and my 8year old to have somewhere other than club lakes to go.

So far it's mega waiting lists and 1500 quid to get on anything that interests me.

Admittedly that's just looking on Google.

On the subject of embryo I heard they were interested in a few lakes over lydd way. Loads of pits round there. Don't know if it's the ones that you mentioned though.

I thought I heard that aswell. I think it was when Tom Dove said he had his name down for Cables (dont see his name on the list😉) and they asked if he had paid his £40 and Danny mentioned his ticket cost him £12m 😀

I would like to see some more Embryo waters in the Essex area but I suppose they are few and far between. I did hear a rumour today though of an Embryo sign going up near some waters in the Chelmsford area.

And I'm happy to buy the other ticket I'm waiting on too if it helps him clear his debt quicker.

Normally if you’re retired or disabled you aren earning the same as someone in work. Or at least that’s how it was. But that’s the premise behind it.

I've never understood concessions anyway.
You're fishing the same swim in the same way as everybody else, and if you're old or disabled, have more time to spend there than the average working man.
Why should it be a cheaper ticket?

Not a gdpr breach when you agree to have your name on a published waiting list. Sure you could opt out and have your name redacted.

Sad about the concessions, seems a bit of a miserable thing to do when fishing can be a real lifeline - either making people feel better directly, or have a better quality of life.

As for the waiting list, I got on one of their syndicates last year and am still on their list for it... Can't be two of me, surely... And if there is, am I the double - or are they?

With respect original post was about giving existing Embryo syndicate concessionary members 4 weeks notice to effectively find double what it cost last year, not waiting lists. I personally would have thought some concession was reasonable not scrap it it all together.

People moan about syndicates being closed shops and only getting on if your face fits. The ones you really wanna get on won’t have lists anyway. Embryos way of doing at least shows transparency. It’s for a fishing lake, not Epsteins friends list. Can’t see the big deal tbh.

It’s not like they are listing addresses
How many other people in the country are there that have the same name as you?
Using yours as an example.

You have your name and address on this site (if you have access to the classifieds) and the name is public for anyone who clicks it.

Maybe write to them, might strike a chord. Bit disasteful given DF himself wasn't too well not so long ago, he of all people must realise there are those who simply can't do what they once did anymore. Not really the sorts to clog up the banks, they could at least have restricted access and made it more about week days.

Not so sure about affording it, probably more like the demographic that's least important, tbh, I wonder if he himself knows, seems a little 'out of character' though he is a busnessman.

I often wonder about who spends the most money on Carp fishing gear, older v younger, all the media bias is toward the younger generation but from when I was young it's the older anglers that have the biggest disposable income and use it. Judging by my stay at home generation Z nieces in their 20's, who don't save a penny, live with and borrow from their grand parents, maybe it's not the case anymore.

Whilst we're on the subject of Embryo memberships (something I've considered as there are a couple close to me)

Why oh why, do they publish ALL the names of people on the waiting lists for their memberships, publicly?

Potentially a GDPR breach?

Got my 2026 Embryo membership renewal by email today, very disappointing that Embryo have removed any concession membership. There are now only adult or junior memberships available. Presumably this will apply across all their syndicates and any bookings. I guess they cant afford it!!
Ps - Some will say that its still good value for money in this mad world but that's not really the point.
