Baitworks hard hookers are solid! Needle goes through them ok and they stay hard for a couple of days

With some mesh on them you would be fine I reckon

If they're decent sized crays shrink or mesh is pointless, fun for the crays tho

Why not just get some of the shrink wrap for your usual baits?

In your situation I’d go 80% regular basemix, 10% egg albumen, 10% whey gel, boil for 5 mins and air dry for 24hrs before freezing. May or may not need a bait drill to mount on a hair, so make sure you’re carrying one.

I'm after the hardest of hookbaits - one of the lakes is completely overrun by crayfish but I want to fish with bait - not plastic/ something artificial. What are the hardest real baits out there. Probably go 20-24mm as I think size helps a bit with the krays
