Wow, I never knew that about the Leney strain and their mixed origins.

So it appears that it’s a straight shootout between Wilmott and RH Fisheries for the future of British carp fishing, I know which side I’m on…

From a quick google, those EJD fisheries fish look like a nice strain. They remind me of the fish that are in a set of neglected farm ponds I grew up fishing

VS strain, Sutton and Harrow crosses.
Mike Willmott of Essential baits is breading his own fish. Which are Stoneacre, Frampton, Colne mere mash ups.. he only recently put a load of C1s up for sale. Which for anyone wanting to play the long game would of been interesting

And there's some fella who breeding so called Leney strain fish. Forget his name or the name of his company. But if anyones interested Kev Ellis done a Vid with him a while back. I'm yet to watch it.

While we're mentioning so called Leney strain fish. There is not an actuall Leney strain. Donald Leney wasn't a breeder. He just sourced his fish from various farms to sell on. The most famous of which was the Galician strain originally from Eastern Europe. But Donald was getting them from a farm in the Netherlands. He sourced fish fom everywhere.

Wasn't there a company up Humberside way. That was importing large Carp from Europe back in the seventies.. is that still going?

And last but not least. You have Rob Hales RH Fisheries with his swimming pool breed Super freaks.. the future of Carp fishing..

Coming from the West Country, I have a particular interest in the Sutton Bingham strain and another strain I’ve heard called the “Burton Bradstock” strain. Can anyone elaborate further on these two? What waters did they go into and what size did they reach?

Whilst we’re at it, what other strains are out there? Obviously there are the more famous ones such as Leneys, Dinks and Simmos but any more local strains from around the country would be great to hear about!
