I've had plenty, to a pb Smallmouth of 42 lbs. Despite their passing resemblance to a snotty, they do actually fight quite well.
One red letter day, at a local pond, saw me land Smallmouth, Bigmouth and Black Buffs, along with Commons, Grassers and some bib Blue cats, on a single day session.
Oh yeah, all free fishing, without another angler in sight !
A Carper really is spoiled for choice over here, always pioneering to be done too !

I think they were featured in a Korda Monster Carp Episode where they fished over in the states. Look like they might give a cracking fight shape wise but with the bream reference...hmm
Are you going to have a go for them?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ez7U1G1865wWESJw7Here in the U.S., we are lucjy enougth to have several species of Carp like fish, called Buffalo.
They look a bit like a cross between a Carp and a Bream, but aren't related to either.
Best part, you cattch them on standard Carp tactics and often get them alongside Carp in the same session.
Oh yeah, they get big too.
I fished a 115,000 acre lake in Texas last week, landing some nuce commons, but my buddy Jeff, an ex pat Jock, blew my results out of the water with this magnificent Smallmouth Buffalo, of 61 lbs for his new pb !
They really are a great fish to target.
