Im using adjustables in 40ft so theres too much line in the water for lead to drop.

Shame there are no UK stockists because their alarm features are ideal for my fishing. I would guess a set of the pro with import tax would be close to £700-£800.

Just grabbed a set of R4s. TFT had them on sale for £430. Going to pair them with a set of solar titanium long arms and give them a whirl.

Increase the angles overall. Tight lines at a sharp-ish angle, and rod tips high to exacerbate the angles. Dropping the lead on the take should also produce hefty drop backs?

Age ones are the most reliable alarm out there , made and developed solely in Germany .

Cue torrent of abuse from the Delk fraternity.

I agree with this and Vossy's findings re dropbacks. Had serious problems with the Delks on a foreign river with slow dropbacks not registering. Same concern re braid and the sensors too. Interesting that my lad who fishes with braid all the time (lives and fishes in France) has ditched the delks because of major reliability issues. He's just got the Carp sounder Age one alarms and seems impressed by them. If they hold up to the fishing he does then I will be getting a set next year. In the meantime, I have switched back to Nevs or RX digitals.

To be honest im leaning towards getting rid of the delks.

Im going to say something that will annoy a few in here but in all honesty, I dont think they are good enough for the price. I feel their main selling point is it being digital but in reality I dont think its superior to a wheel and they are missing a lot compared to their competitors. I know not many alarms are worth the money but for example the R4s have a lot of features.

Yes mate on adjustable. Had most my fish around 7ft down during the warmer months so you can imagine the amount of line out from the reel. That’s in the middle too so around a 22/23 wrap cast on top of the depth.

I've always used my mk1 euro swinger's for zigs, weight slid right down and spring set to max no 2, rod never pointed straight at the rig, always offset to put a bend in the tips. And watch the tips
Remember even if your fishing at half depth in 40' that's a fair old circle before any indication might show up on any alarm never mind a delkim.

Are you using adjustables? Assume you are in 40ft. Always found bite indication much better with these as they act more like a running lead.

Delks are known to not register slow drop backs particularly well. I myself moved away from Delks after a trip to France where I lost fish that were running along a wall, the Delks just didn't register the tiny movements that it took for the fish to reach a nearby tree stump.
I contacted Delkim and they said the sensors do lose sensitivity over time and they advised to send the alarms in for replacement.

I agree re the swingers, braid will help, not sure I like the idea of braid on those sensors though but lots do, I guess you'll be getting yo yo movements anyway not screaming runs.

Low stretch mono perhaps if not already using it?

Braid and springer arms

I personally don't like using braid for zigs but if you want gold standard...

I fish a very deep syndicate (40ft) and ive done well on zigs but there have been a couple of times in the night where my delks just don’t register the take well enough. Im fishing as tight as possible and using a 20g bobbin weight to try and maximise the slow drop back but im still not happy.
Im considering switching to braid and if im still not happy then I think i’ll be getting rid of the delks.

Any other tips?

TIA
