In reply to Post #21 Sorry mate I can't find anything on Leigh SD at SE BBoats supplies. Is there a website or Facebook page ?

In reply to Post #21 When I spoke to spydertech they said the blue has side screen but doesn't show the hardness or softness of the lakebed like the red does which i thought was a bit odd.
I'll definitely give that a look though. Is the red techadvision better than the sonar on the deeper?

In reply to Post #20 Leigh SD at SE BBoats supplies and fits TechAdvision - Red is currently available (similar to DragonFly) and Blue (similar to Elements) available in Oct I think; much smaller components than RM and therefore easy to install - I think Blue does everything Red does with the addition of side-scan? ND2 is still a valid investment if you want to 'pimp' with better sonar as like XBoats they are easy to fiddle with . . .

In reply to Post #16 I could only find sypdertech that dealt with the techadvision stuff but they said they only fitted them to the x boats
The red techadvision the cheaper one would be the one for me as that shows hardness os the lake bed the blue doesn't. I just don't know where I'd get the techadvision red fitted to the nd3 boat

In reply to Post #18 Just brought a quest matt. Better than the nd boats just sold mine.
Its a lot more money but there's a lot of boat for the money. Be better customer service. They pay for the post of the boat if it needs to go back lots of benefits

In reply to Post #16 Smaller X Boat sounds very interesting. I was considering the Quest to replace my ND2 but will hold fire for a bit!

In reply to Post #16 A smaller toslon sounds good. The current one is huge.

In reply to Post #1 A fully unlocked ND2 with ND Sonar and range extender is cheaper than a Quest . . .
And if you're willing to negate warranty, a pimped ND2 (with autopilot unlocked) and Raymarine / TechAdvision Red or Blue Sonar with Voltmeter / Hopper lights fitted etc is still cheaper than a Quest . . . also Tri Hull (more stable) / takes loads of aftermarket accessories (ie bait spreaders / cams) and doesn't require in-situ charging - maybe one to consider?
I've heard on the grapevine Toslon are bringing out a new 'smaller' boat imminently . . . if it has the reliability of the XBoat (but not the enormous size) it may be worth the wait . .

In reply to Post #12 Look at stealthcam. They do the Vortex spreader for deeper boats. They are excellent I have one for my RT7 really good. Strongest motor on any of the spreaders I have seen with remote function.
They can spread 250 x 15mm boilies 5ft+ from your boat. You can make that less by deciding the strength of the motor.

In reply to Post #12 Its a custom made one from a guy here in Germany. 3D printed, 2 spreaders, one left, one right with enough space left for about 2kg of bait extra. Works up to 400m and works Like a charm. Good price as well.
Only thing missing now is one of those remote underwater cameras....

Been waiting for a discount code for a quest for ages but still never found one. Maybe this black friday 🤞🙏🏻

In reply to Post #11 Where do you get the spreader from for the deeper? Can you fit it to the boat yourself?

Had Boatmans and then the Deeper Quest because a friend had it and it was totally gobsmacked about how efficient, fast and handy it is.
The batteries last forever. I only do short overnighters but fish rather long range up to and over 200m with it so it gets some km's.
I get several weeks out of the batteries before I have to charge it again.
Capacity is more than enough. I have had a custom remote controlled bait sling or what you call it so I can have a better spread.
The echosounder is more than enough for my purposes.
You can make depth maps and the app is incredibly simple and well made.
Adding navigation points is more than easy and they are limitless.
All in all its my dream baitboat and cant fault anything on it so far.
I cant see myself ever selling it.
That it comes with a really good rucksack is also a great bonus.

In reply to Post #6 Yes please mate that would be great. Is there a link for your post on the Facebook group or can you upload them on here?

In reply to Post #8 Do we need to distinguish between NDS and ND Tackle here.
????
Was under the impression NDS was UK based
ND tackle is Chinese clearly and always has been….their after sales is appalling despite the ND2 being a decent boat

In reply to Post #6 Trouble with NDS they are 75% Chinese owned.

Have you considered an anatec catamaran with the tolson ?
( I Dont know anything about them but everyone mentions tolson)
Ok it comes in at 200 more than your budget but the boat is still awesome.
And you can fix it yourself IF anything goes wrong.

In reply to Post #5 I have one of the NDS sonars - compared to my CHIRP+ is it overall superior I think, however no idea how it compares to the new deeper and the boat sonar.
I have posted some videos of it in use on the ND2 baitboat Facebook page that I had send over to you if you want.

In reply to Post #3 That's perfect exactly what I was looking for. Thanks both.
Out of interest do you know how the new NDS boat company issues aside compared in terms of sonar tech and what the details it provides are like or hypothetically will be like compared to the deeper would be like? I'll admit I don't understand the ins and outs of what tech makes a sonar that can produce images like the raymarines and what would produce images like a temu special

In reply to Post #1 I don't have, or have seen in use, Tolson, so can't comment on that. But I have had a Quest since they were first released, which replaced an NDS I had before that. (FWIW I got rid of the NDS because of absolutely dreadful customer service in respect of a fault—and that was before the current schisms in the corporate structure, so I would caution you to tread carefully if you go down that route).
For my requirements, the Deeper is absolutely perfect. Can't fault it at all.
Just to add to the points made by JasonM in the previous post:
* With both hoppers full it can carry 3Kg of bait. This is more than I would ever want to ship out in a single drop.
* I've used it in very rough and windy conditions (a big Fenland water) and it was fine—a bit slow driving into the strong head wind, but otherwise very stable.
* The integration between the app and the boat is phenomenal. Just to give you an idea, as you're driving the boat around looking at the sonar view (it's Deeper which I regard as best in class at that price point) you can mark any spots that take your fancy. I guess any boat can do this. But at any time you like, without even being connected to the boat, or the boat in the water, you can go back through the entire area the sonar was over on your phone/tablet and create pins for anywhere you want on that scan history. Once connected to the boat, you can then send it automatically to any of those places. Now, taking this a stage further, it has 'area scan' ability. So you can simply direct it to scan the water in front of you (it will even tell you how long that will take), not even look at what it's doing, and when it's finished review the scan on your phone/tablet and create pins on the best looking spots. Once you've created pins you can send the boat there automatically. It's a bit clumsy to describe all of this in text, but it really is game changing to be able to do all of that off-line (this may not be unique to the Quest, but is awesome)
* If you want to be fancy you can automate actions, such as 'drive the boat to pin A and once you are there open left hopper and then return home. (I don't use it because I always want the final manual sanity check before I open the hopper, so I just tell it to drive to a pin and then manually open the hopper once I've made any positional adjustments).
* You get a load of stuff with the Deeper as part and parcel—tool kit, spare parts, backpack, water cover...
* I've not had to use Deeper support for the Quest, but did previously with one of their castable sonars and it's the same support team. My experience with them was excellent.
If I were using the boat regularly on 1,000 acre lakes in France I don't know if it would still be okay, but I would say that for the majority of UK waters (and reasonable sized overseas lakes) it is a joy to use.
Hope that helps

In reply to Post #1 Pros & Cons
Here are what each does especially well, and where they might be less ideal.
Toslon X-Boat + XR500
Pros:
• Larger bait capacity (5 kg) means fewer trips out if you’re feeding plenty or using large baits.
• Longer run time with that capacity.
• Greater range (500 m) helpful on big lakes or when you need to send the boat far.
• Strong build, more rugged in heavier conditions.
• Good for anglers who want power & heavy baiting and perhaps less worried about weight to carry.
• More control over hoppers, rig drop, etc; especially useful if you need dual hoppers and more versatility.
Cons:
• Heavier to carry (~7 kg), more bulky. Not as easy to transport.
• More expensive; bigger investment.
• Larger boat may be more conspicuous in shallow water or when stealth is needed. Even with quiet approach, physical noise, wake etc can be more.
• More moving parts, more to maintain.
Deeper Quest
Pros:
• Lighter and more portable; easier to transport, carry, and manage.
• Very strong tech integration: best-in-class sonar, mapping, app features, return home etc. Excellent if you value precision, mapping your swims, etc.
• Stealth features (silent approach, lights off etc) are good for spooky fish / calm water.
• Good run time relative to its size and weight.
• More “user friendly” for anglers who want ease of use, tech, accurate spot returns etc.
Cons:
• Smaller bait capacity means more trips if you need to feed lots or bulk out baiting.
• Not as rugged for massive bait loads or very rough conditions.
• Range slightly less compared to Toslon in optimal cases; might be less if signal suffers due to obstacles, weather.
• If you want to do large sessions where power, capacity, payload matters more, the lighter build might feel limiting.
⸻
Which One Might Be Better for You
It depends on your fishing style / what you value more. Here are some guiding thoughts:
• If you fish large waters, need to send the bait boat far out, drop large quantities of bait, and want durability—Toslon X-Boat is likely better.
• If you fish smaller lakes, or places where portability matters (e.g. walking to swims, needing to carry gear far), or you value tech and spot accuracy / sonar mapping more than absolute bait payload, Deeper Quest is very attractive.
• Also, budget matters: if you can afford the Toslon and need its extra capability, it may be worth the extra; but if you don’t need full capability, the Quest may give you more for your needs per £ spent.

So as the subject says. Is the deeper quest the best boat under 2 grand?
When I say best I'm looking at the all round package. Reliability, GPS/autopilot quality, sonar etc
One of my main things is i want a really good sonar on a boat. The deeper is triple beam and virtually everything else I've looked at is dual beam. How much of a difference does this make?
Is the stability of the deeper ok ? Does the fact that it's a dual hull and not triple hull make much of a difference?
I've looked at other boats like the sailvay c, gowi osprey and the sonar doesn't look very good at all on those.
The x boat has the toslons but again are those sonars anywhere near the quality of the s
Deeper?
The other 2 boats are the NDS boat and this looks very good but the recent company issues have left me a bit wary. The other is the new angling Technics boat, they seem to have hyped this up to be the best boat in that price range but I've struggling to get any proper info on the sonar so not sure what that's like. Don't know if anyone currently owns one and can shed any light on what the boat is like?
Any help would be great
