The key according to Jim is a trowel, some mortar and some bricks. Trap them literally

Chris Yates - now that's a man who can tell a story.

Speaking of stories, I saw a tattered Jim Shelley book covered in a thick layer of dust at the tackle shop the other day. You could just about make out his red round face gleaming through the grime on the front cover. I could faintly hear a squeaking whisper in my head saying - "pick me up for a look, clonker.. this is the key to trapping those scaley bangers..."

I almost gave in to temptation but I didn't want to leave any fingerprints as evidence.

Personally thought the offering was great.

Terry tells a story like no other in my opinion!

Agreed mate - only person I watch on YouTube.

The full time thing doesn't interest me, 4 days a week rotting in a tent week in and week out.

Don’t mind any of his videos. Tells a great story and a good angler

He’s the only full time angler i really watch as he’s open and honest about it. He don’t brag he’s out 3-4 nights a week. And praises those who work full time and still chase there dreams.

Not like these tramps who do it and lose their family and jobs for the sake of a hobby.

"Wonder if this was an ESP video if the same comments would be made?"

Fair point.

Probably not, I agree.

Maybe some of us were secretly getting tired of the ESP vids but kept quiet until now for fear of persecution?

...or maybe it was just me...

Can imagine sticky see how well the ESP vids do and thought, why try to change what clearly works. Seems to have backfired a bit for them maybe? Wonder if this was an ESP video if the same comments would be made?

I agree with the other comments that it was virtually identical to ESP.

I wonder how much say Sir Terry Hearn has in the production of these vids?

I was expecting something fresh from Sticky.

I wouldn't say boring.. I'd say very samey to what ESP do very well.. you'd of thought a company like Sticky would want to put there own slant on a Terry campaign story. They probably thought if it ain't broke why fix it.. opportunity lost I think..

Maybe Terry gets a proper Job slant.. put him to work in the sticky bait factory for a month rolling his own bait. Then see how he gets on on work overnighter.. I think I'd know the answe to that one..

Exactly. As much as Terry is probably one of our only links to how it was back when many of us started, I still doff my cap more to those who do it week in, week out and still bang out a 40+ hour week on the tools.

Can name a handful who catch absolutely everything in every single pond they've fished, yet still manage to keep their 9/10 indoors very happy.

Am I sensing a bit of a Tel backlash...

Terry does what he does and gets paid for it. Its his job.. no he's doesn't have any family to worry about true. But that's his choosing. Fair play to him. Bringing a Mrs and kids into the life he lives would be pretty unfair on them. It's his life. No one else's.

Everyone has a calling. And his it seems was to be a bit feral. He dont seem to be worried about all the trappings in life everyone else is constantly chasing. Judging by the decor in his house it probably aint changed from the little old lady he bought it of.. its just somewhere to rest his head when not outside. He even mentions in one of his earlier films he was conceived on the banks of the Thames..

His love for the outdoor life comes across quite well in the fact. That's he's as happy spending time out in mature photographing these days as he is fishing. Maybe this is a tangent he will go of on more and more. As let's face it, the sort of fish and fishing he likes is getting harder and harder to find.

Not sure I like this overnight grey look he's sporting now.. Could of cut down on the grecian 2000 a bit more slowly and eased us all in a bit more..

There's only one Terry Hearn.. Long live the " Special'uns "...

He'll never be cancelled, he's far too important to the history of carp angling along with a load of others from that and earlier generations. No one inspires me now like he and they did then.

I'm just jealous because he's still got such a good head of hair, jammy sod 😂😂. In fact Tel if your reading this, pm me what products you're using so I can give it a try 😀

I've really enjoyed Terry's videos over the past decade or so, but apart from him looking like my friends mum, the other thing that I struggle with now, is having any interest in a full timer, even if they tell a decent story!

There are some mega anglers out there, doing it whilst balancing young or complex family situations whilst working 40 hours a week
These are the people who I'm keen to hear stories of

Anyone know the other Oxfordshire lake. Looks very similar to the lake Joe Morgan fished in his latest Carp Angle episode ?

Noticed that aswell.. how sad are we.. But saying that the latest models have flared duplon collars rather than the rounded ones on the older models. So an easy spot.

Why you ask?..... probably just that bit softer. Making it a bit easier to extract fish from heavy weed?

Granted the fish are lovely in the lake but it’s the third film in about 12 months on the place. To say it’s limited access I feel like I’ve caught the fish myself I’ve seen them that often.

Remember the complex having a 1/4 page weekly catch report in carp talk many years ago.

PS if anyone’s reading this who runs it I’d definitely have a ticket 😉

They’re all a bit formulaic at this point but at least there’s a certain level of romance to the whole thing. Better than some prat with a cap on backwards telling you how many wraps it is to a clear spot and how many spombs he’s ’gone in with’ over the top of his three spinner rigs.
