I’ve got the ESP’s in 3.25 TC & caught a couple of 40s on them - fantastic feel for the money. Place we went (I live in Czech) my mate flew over & hired tackle and was given Nash scopes. Have to say I felt the ESP was a superior rod (safe to say not inferior) and much cheaper.

Lovely rods, nice playing action

So 3 QuickDraw 4K rods in 3.25lb arrived earlier in the week. They look very good for the money, every bit as good as my Century rods.
They fit nicely in the ESP QuickDraw 3 rod holdall and a real plus point is when the back seats are down the holdall fits across the car rather than the usual along the length of the boot.

Used them yesterday, sadly having a blank, but a few casts and winding in some rather large lumps of weed gave a good indication on the action and feel of the rods. So far they felt really good with an initial fast taper action, bending into the bottom section under more pressure. Very similar action to my Greys Xcellerate rods.

As stated by the previous poster, 10ft rods really do feel nice and easy to use and no regrets on my purchase.
Thanks again for the comments.

Definitely do it. Since I started using shorter rods I find everything about going fishing more enjoyable and easier. Admittedly I don’t fish great distances as I’m fishing somewhere that doesn’t require it (and I can’t anyway) but shorter rods are just better for almost everything imo. Never used retractable rods but my main rods are 9ft 3 piece atm and I love everything about them. The less bulk and weight I take the better fishing gets for me.

I’ve had the Tackle Box 10ft CF-X 3lb rods for a couple of years now and can’t fault them. I had them custom built because I don’t like the short butt sections you get on a lot of 10ft rofs so they built them with the same reel seat position as my 12ft rods.
The cost difference between standard rods and custom built was fairly minimal considering I changed a few other rod fittings.
I’ve not used my 12ft rods since these were delivered.

Wychwood Extricator Plus 10 ft are very nice rods with a progressive action.

If you cant find them: Daiwa Cast'izm 10ft 2.75/3.00lb

Got to use the Harrison Torrix Stalker 10ft 2.75lb and Free spirit S carp 3.00 for a weekend, I'm keeping my Daiwa's

The throwing accuracy and fish playing are so superior on them, i should actually start using them more because when I think about it I like them even more than my Free spirit ES set

Thanks for the comments, appreciated.
I must say that retractables would not normally be my first choice, but I finally decided to go that route.

Whilst I will use regularly, I still have my 12ft C2 2.75lb and 12ft Greys Xcellerate 3.25lb rods to fall back on.
The main reason to choose retractable was due to the space saving when travelling on holiday with family and 2 dogs.
Two piece 10ft rods did not make a big enough space saving(length with holdall), where the retraceables did and they would also fit in my roof box.

I did consider various Harrison, Century and Free Spirit alternatives, but being in retirement I could not justify the additional price of these rods, even though I do appreciate such blanks.
End of the day, 3 rods and a holdall for less than the cost of one of my C2's

I opted for 3.25lb tc's based on a recommendation for a more all-round option.
I will see how they perform once I get to use them.

If you can stretch your budget 10' Harrison Aviators are superb . . .I have them in 3.25 but they are available in 2.75/3/3.5 etc . . .prior to this I had 10' Freespirit CTX in 3.25 - not as crisp and slightly heavier but still lovely rods . . .

Personally would steer clear of retractables, especially if they are going to be your go to rods and in regular use - more to go wrong and unless your riding a bike / drive a mini to the lake a bit unnecessary IMO

I’m using the Tackle box Cfx blacks in 10ft, and they’re gorgeous looking rods, and they feel great too! Cast well, and the action on them is nice too, I have 3.25’s and they’re still nice and soft not rigid. I would imagine they’re a superior rod to the quickdraws, they’d need to be really good to be on par with the Cfx

Looking to replace my 12ft 2.75lb rods with 10ft 3lb rods.
I am considering either The Tackle Box CF-X or the new ESP QuickDraw 4K retractables, both in 3lb tc.
Does anyone have experience of these particular rods, especially looking for feedback on the new ESP’s and how they compare to other retractables.
I prefer a rod which has a more progressive curve and an out and out casting rod is not required as I either fish smaller waters or a bait boat on larger. Fish are likely to be in the 10-35lb range with the (I wish) slim chance of a 40
Budget in the £100-£180 range
