You were right about Safe-liners! Even more annoying than black & whites and even with the soft clip could not get them to sit right (at least with Stows you can rotate the chain and 'untwist' them) . . . .now using Delk Slimlites - testing in anger for the first time this weekend - fingers crossed my exacting bobbin standards are satisfied!

The sensoriser's weights are different, I just looked at one.

With regards to the solid right angle butt bangers, I have dug some of them out of my carp museum to look at...and you can remove the smaller knurled bit of metal at the hockey stick end of the arm and slide on the weights, this is how I used to be able to swap weights between my long / short arm butt bangers

These are the ones I have and was describing. Defo looks like the Sensoriser ones are shorter to me? Assume they fit the same way?

These are the sliding weights for the buttbanger arms.
I think these weights are about bit longer than the ones for the sensoriser arms, as shown in Vossys pic.
No idea if they fit the other arms.

BTW, these have the korda mag adaptors fitted, and the korda mag hockey sticks on my buzz bars.
A great system.

We're those the ones they fitted to the Sensorisor arms? I think Baitman might have those.

EDIT, These

Solar used to make knurled stainless sliding weights for the butt banger arms which were a retrofit product. They were in 3 pieces. You had to unscrew the two halves of the stainless weight, slide one stainless half onto the arm from the hockey stick end, fit the slotted plastic middle bit by just clipping it onto the arm through the slot and then slide the other threaded stainless half onto from the hockey stick end. The plastic slotted insert has a tapered profile to it, so when you screw the two stainless halves together it pinches it to the arm and locks it into position. If you want to slide it in either direction, just slightly unscrew the two halves, slide to new position and then screw the two halves tightly together again. I’ve got a set of 4 of them I’ve had for nearly 30 years I reckon and would never part with them.
You may be able to find a set of them on eBay at some point?
From memory, Solar also made butt banger arms with pivot points at both ends. It may be possible to fit the sliding weights from either end of those, but couldn’t be certain as mine have a fixed 90 degree upward bend on them where the bobbin head screws on.

Im sure you could get a sliding weight/ grub screw modified with someone cutting a slit to the middle?
Iirc, they have a thread, grub screw and rubber grommet in the middle, the more you tighten the grub against the grommet the harder they are to slide.

I had the same issue with the safe liners, initially wasn't impressed then saw (or more likey read the instructions) how to set them up properly and they have been great since.

The twist I found to be the chain, resolved by running it straight with you finger when you pick up the bobbin to attach the line.

I find they give really good indication and once you get the weights balanced you can get really delicate indication.

Loads of people seem to like them, perhaps my heavy mono was a bit much for them to sit true. Annoying nonetheless, and you’re not gonna change your mainline for a bobbin! (I bet some on here would actually 😂 )

Hi, had a few specials from Keith. But don't fancy messing about with adapters.
Think SS sliding weights would be easy to make for the Solar Arms (can take ends off), or maybe Carper, Fox or Avid sliding weights would fit, and weight be OK.
But its all a bit of a faff & prob wait for items. I can get away with adding weights to Bobbins, if needed, so not a urgent need.

OTOH weren't Fox one of first to put M5 on things ?

All for metrification, shame all things not changed decades ago.

Mind, might be rite bummer, if 3/8 BSF went to say M10.

Bob

EDIT. Solar Arms ends don't come off (or at least easily). So can't put on normal sliding weights.
Did find:

So 5mm to 2BA doable. But not cheap, say 6 adapters etc.

I found the Safe Liners a) very hard to see and b) very difficult to get it to sit right. It always wanted to twist or sit at a funny angle. Not worth the outlay IMO.

Why don't you ask Keith t make a M5 to 2BA adapter?

I'm in a similar position, only use solar, sometimes with Keiths bobbin heads. I did buy Keiths QR vertical hockeys but went back to my Solar as I wanted to be able to alter the angle when using my Quiverlocs.

I really want a fully adjustable hockey like the Solar Pozi Boss. The only 2 I found were Matrix which are too bulky and Fox have released a new variable hockey/snag ear, but as usual they''ve made sure it's not that interchangeable with other brands and have put a male thread on the end of the hockey...grr.

Foxs new bobbin range looks pretty good if I'm honest, 3 tension arms too, but I won't be changing everything to buy them.

The only other bobbin that's turned my head from Solar is the Jag Safeliner...maybe one day!

Hi, i use Solar Arms with various Bobbins on them (Mainly Keiths Mag Heads, last ones the Glow Heads).
Always fancied some with sliding weights on thou (Got weights to attach to Bobbins)
So fancied the Carper arms, so messaged them. Problem is thread on arm ends, is M5.
Avid Carp do a similar arm with a sliding weight on it, same again, thread on ends M5.
Most of my Bobbins, Hockey Sticks etc i have, 2BA threads on them.
So still looking for a Arm with a sliding weight on.

Just a note. 2BA male thread, will fit into M5 female if a small bit of Play.
But a M5 Male thread will not fit into a 2BA Female (M5 male too bit a diameter).
Approx 2BA thread 4.5mm, M5 thread 5mm.

Cheers Bob

I just got my old man a set of these in red, he absolutely loves them, they have the magnet ball line clip as well, 3x for £20, absolute bargain. Funnily enough he was upgrading from his old Korda Stows as well.

Jumping on the thread... But what hangers do you guys use with defiant bobbins? Have never really been happy with the many I've tried over the years.
Looked at the defiant bobbins a few times but,and I appreciate it's totally irrelevant, they have never looked great to me. Never considered myself a tackle tart 😂

Do they rust at the bottom where the chain joins? I have some black & whites but don't use them. I need notice they were covered in oil or some kind of lubricant when I bought them.

I can confirm the Black n' Whites rust fella. I had a set which rusted in a season. Korda replaced them for me and the next set lasted 6 months. If you look carefully you can see it on some of the Korda videos. Darrell Pecks' were trashed in the Masterclass 7 vid. This was a while ago so they could have changed them by now.

I agree with other posters, if you want that type/size of bobbin, the Defiant Mag Heads are a good shout. He recently bought out 'Glow Mags' that you charge up with a black light UV torch so no need for isotopes. They're decent

Embarrassingly I have a bit of a thing for bobbins, had a load of Matrix Neo that are really nice, but have just listed them on the bay. Currently have some Gert Ooms and Daniel Shweinzer bobbins that are mega. You can see Daniel’s on his FB page, he also does a custom “stow” for those interested and Gert has a web page.

I have a love hate relationship with bobbins and all indicators in general - so much so I (stupidly) sold my rare Dymag jobbies that would have lasted a lifetime and went back to Stows (which I actually quite like). After getting bored of these I purchased 2x sets of Korda Black & Whites (small / long chain & large short chain) but soon realised how fiddly and limiting bobbins can be (especially in adverse conditions) so started to use the Fox Mini Black label swingers instead. Do actually quite like these however the fittings are poor (plastic hockey sticks and threads on the indicator arms that chew easily) . . .so went back to Stows (again). New line I'm using didn't get on with tight clip on Stows so was considering Delkim v2 Nitelites however now using Jag Safeliners which are a Stow/Bobbin hybrid of sorts - I like the soft central insert (gentler than Stow offset clip) and the fact that the body on its own is as heavy as a Stow with an overweight so maybe I'm settling on them . . .either way I've got 2x MINT 3x Rod sets of Black & Whites (both white bobbins) with isotopes / all og packaging I'd be happy to sell . . . !!!

Another vote for Defiant Mag Heads

I prefer the Mk1 (with one line clip) but have numerous version and sizes in the kit box

I do like the carbon ones by CRK as well though, purely cause they look lovely

Defiant still do a load of bobbin options. Every so often I try something new/different, but always go back to my trusty MKII's, so I can fish like a stow, or a normal bobbin as required. If it's not on your list probably worth a look 👍

Recommendations for some new bobbins. I have been using the korda stows for years but want some different bobbins. Looked at the korda black and white but iv seen alot of people say they go rusty! Any recommendations welcome. Thanks 👍
