From memory wasn't it meant to be a mugga and Fluoro? Coated braid wouldn't be the one.

Wouldn't change that tbh, used to do fish everywhere - back when you didn't need loads of scaffolding to catch a carp that is 😳

A decent coated braid and strip back 5 inches before tying the hook on.

I would say the KD is most traditionally used with a curved shank hook, although if you're confident in any in-turned eye, wide-gaped hook it should be fine. A Mugga would always be my shout for a KD.
