I've done a few trips and never had any bother....they've wanted the van to go through the X-Ray machine (or whatever it is) but they've never turfed anything out looking for bait.

I did hear stories of one particular route where bait got confiscated a couple times and the theory was that the custom guy was an angler who was having it for himself. Can't remember where I read/heard it, on here maybe...

I wouldn't worry though, it'll ruin your trip worrying.

On my first trip through I buried a lot of the bait where it would be hard to get to, and then left a couple 5kg bags visible. The idea being if they did confiscate the bait they'd take the 10kg that was visible and not look for the bulk of it (in buckets) underneath everything

Ha, you will be fine.

The first thing..... It's a holiday. You will be away for a week. Weather will be sunny and a few thunderstorms I bet. Use it as a time to relax and chill out.

You aren't going out there to fish a rock hard water. But always watch the water and use a bit of water craft.
When I first started it both commercials and public waters be on the look out for areas where you might pop a pva bag or 2 in a corner of a lake for a few hrs and see what might turn up. .enjoy the experience knowing that there are years to come of french holiday fishing and then public lakes if you want to go down that route.

And for me number one rule is it's your holiday and fishing. We might all be jealous that you have a week away but remember to do what you feel is right.

They have them on site for hire so no need to buy if you're not planning to target the cats

If your not set up for cats at least take a large tarpaulin & glove to get it on the bank easily, lots of videaos on the internet of how it's done
Tail dangling out of sling is not a good idea if it can be avoided.

After reading the title of this thread I clicked with expectation … I can’t tell you how disappointing the content is compared to what I was hoping for

If you fancy a 100lb + cat that's fair enough but sometimes big cats will sit over/near a baited spot waiting for baitfish so longer periods of inactivity can be the caused by the cats if they're not hoovering up your baited areas, I have had this on many occasions on many different lakes with cats present, moving the baited spot to a new area can keep bites coming from the carp.

Thanks Neil my normal baiting is put a few kilos in to start and then top up or build up bites depending
I’m fishing b1 according to a video I watched there is only 10 cats in there so hopefully not as bad as b2 on the plus side wouldn’t mind a 100lb plus cat

Have a look at Lac La Chaussee as well, great venue and lovely people running it - perhaps not quite as prolific as it once was but you should catch a few.

The food package is excellent, id definitely take it. Use their particle mix that you buy by the bucket , and fish at least one rod on maize. It's nice to wind in and sit out on the patio with a drink , you won't be missing out on bites . We found the period after dinner was prolific , we wound in at night 😉

If your driving I would strongly recommend getting an EMOVIS tag for the tolls it makes life so much easier .
Make sure you have the correct breakdown cover etc .
Bounty looks ideal for you to start your adventure, France is not for everyone but I love it and have been going since 2010 and normally book as soon as I get home.
Enjoy ☺️

One note I’m not a huge fan of food packages as it means your tied to certain times and I often think you could be missing a bite or two .

Thanks welshy chose bounty just for that reason to find my feet fishing abroad
Looking forward to going and just asking a few questions about preparing and what to expect like to do a bit of home work and then as you say figure out the rest when you’re there
Plus hopefully a fish or two should grace my net
Not sure on the food package yet like to cook my own plus not hung up on the idea of having to reel in twice a day at set times just feels wrong to me not use to that
Hope you and your lad have a belter trip and bag plenty

I'm taking my son in April for our 1st trip to the venue so can let you know how we get on and what worked and what didn't. I don't bother to ask too many questions as I like to figure it out, but I have heard bait boats are a significant advantage and don't overbait, fish for a bite at a time, which is the advice already given in this thread. As a general rule of fishing in France though, make sure you have plenty of hooks and leads. In most commercial venues you can fish just like you do back home so don't get too concerned that it's a different country, they are still just carp. The most important thing though is to choose a venue to suit your angling experience, which you are doing by choosing Bounty which from what I have heard is a great 1st time venue amd fairly easy fishing (hence taking my son)

So I think I’m definitely going to bounty lakes b2 so this is my first trip abroad fishing

So any does or don’ts

From what I’m reading light leads and 12in rigs

Don’t bait heavy fish for bites

What are the mozzies like here I’m a walking banquet

Anything really that will help

Is ther crays or chats

Bounty would be a good first trip . Easy drive , use their bait , catch loads of fish and they do a great food package . Go out odd days and visit local bars and shops .

I would say Bounty would be great as a 1st time venue. The other option would be to look at a few of the all inclusive type places where you either get the coach and use your gear or fly in and hire the gear. A few big questions will be how many of you are going, as you'll need to consider how you are travelling. Also if there is a few of you an exclusive lake booking may be preferable. If you let everyone know a few of these answers and you'll probably get a few more specific recommendations

Are you looking to drive and survive or with food package or up for flying in.

So many options a lot of the lakes I have fished are no longer and the best option I could advise would be angle lakes as a fly in all inclusive type gig.

Looking to do my first foray into France this year for a week in early July this year never done it before so looking for an easy venue so in my limited research looking at bounty lakes b2 would be happy with a few fish keep it interesting I know the fish arnt massive but for my first trip it’s just about finding my feet and a 40 would be more than enough

So whould bounty be fine in July for a few fish and any hints and tips for my first foreign venture
