Breaking News just released.... eighth series of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing starts October 26th 9pm BBC2
I for one, cannot wait
...and no bloody spoilers or you'll be shot

|
|
|
In reply to Post #41 !Spoiler alert!
Fishing, mens health/heart chat, dogs with underbite, rustic bank cooking and possibly the odd forward/backward roll from Bob.
It's the same each week, but I still watch it as the Mrs likes it.
Would be good to get another Passion for Angling style show. Much more effort to make, but these become legendary. Catching the Impossible (sometimes re-hooking it too)

Is a great series and watched by many non-anglers it seems.
One question, Paul Whitehouse and Dickie Carr separated at birth ? maybe...

In reply to Post #1 Bumped into Paul and Bob on the royalty fishery a few years ago barbel fishing.
Felt a bit awkward walking past them as I didn’t want to disturb their fishing and was sure they would have been pummeled by other passers by looking for autographs etc so simply said ‘alright chaps - had any luck?’ Quick as a flash Paul has replied ‘nah it’s rubbish - Bobs ****ed if up with his **** casting’ Top lads and s top show.

In reply to Post #31 Prefer to watch the old stuff to some of the dross on TV these days. Watched the first 2 episodes last night and they were excellent as usual. How PW didnt punch Bob i will never know! Unless that was just for show!

In reply to Post #30 It's the dove from above let's bring it down with coos of encouragement...or something like that...God we watched some xxxx Almost as wierd as some of the screaming reel episodes!
Just watched it, have they got a new camera operator, at times it was like Bob was looking for where he should have been.
Someone convince me Bob's not been having fly casting lessons he looked fairly o.k tonight to me.

|
|
|
In reply to Post #20 Did you never watch Shooting Stars? Vic and Bob were about as out there as it gets, quite marmite in those who liked them.
Brilliant series, last nights episode made me want to try fly fishing for the first time.
Very long may it continue 👌👌

The show is magical and has probably done more than any outside body to protect angling from the antis. A prime time feel good show has meant millions can now understand the passion, relaxation, reflection and mental well being aspect of fishing. Whilst the threat of antis hasn’t gone I believe this show has been a great part of showing fishing in a positive light.

I must admit, I don't really get Mortimer.
|
|
|
|
|
I'm not sure if it's still the case but John Bailey used to be credited as a 'fishing consultant' a lot at the end of the programmes, it wouldn't surprise me with his knowledge of Norfolk if he sorted the lake, he has done in the past.

This series sounds very promising given the 1st episode and having read a piece in the star today, boastful indeed Bob..lol

Its the 'only' fishing the wife watches on TV, she thinks they're hilarious! A good watch in our opinion

In reply to Post #11 Love it, two friends, fishing and life's journeys all shown, so candid.
Similar to me. Fishing is a really personal thing and everybody can take something out of it, you don’t need 1000s pounds worth of tackle or to be a superstar angler, it’s about getting pleasure out of it for me, at one with nature, not a care in the world, the great escape, which these two portray beautifully

In reply to Post #11 Arh i see. Yeh transports me to a very calm world watching those two.... rare series on a tv full of needless violence and nasty stuff.

In reply to Post #12 Anyone know the second lake they visited in the episode?

In reply to Post #10 I think the reeds saved him but his jacket was very wet There were a few good funnies. @ thicky, they're normally 30 mins, xmas specials are a hour iirc, always goes too quickly for me!

In reply to Post #1 Love it, two friends, fishing and life's journeys all shown, so candid.
The way they talk about their life threatening illnesses, human failings, friendship / family acceptance all with belly wrenching humour is so refreshing.
Best thing on tv by a mile.

In reply to Post #3 How has Bob got through life without breaking his neck,he can't stay on his feet.I thought he had gone in the lake this time though

Not really seen many of these. Watched a couple on some of the repeat channels. But made the effort to sit down and watch the first episode last night. And what a delightful little watch it was aswell. Definitely shows angling as the simple pastime it is. Just two blokes, Rod & reel talking absolute nonsense. Not really worrying what they catch. And going for a few beers after.
Loved the shot of the bite alarm on backwards. Me wondered if a non angling assistant was looking for some content and got the rod on bite alarm shot arse about face. Or it could just of been Bob... " And Away "

Such a mellow episode just disappointed they are now only 30 mins long.... pretty sure they were an hour before.

In reply to Post #4 It should be on I Player mate, though sometimes it may not, depends on the rights. I can't imagine due to popularity it'll be 'held back'.
And besides, Ted wouldn't be happy if they did he's such a star...but a lot of grey now....growing old disgracefully 🤣 I expect nothing less 😎
