In reply to Post #19 What rod did you choose ? I am currently looking at doing a new stalker set up and thinking about the 9ft esp stalker with a okuma 6000 or esp onyx compact reel

Another for the 9' Wychwood Extricator, I have both the original & newer version, both have been great for me & my son, personally I prefer the original version, if anyone knows where to find the originals please let me know.

Ive got the 8ft 2.75lb ESP stalkers and had carp to 27lb on them with no problems.

In reply to Post #7 I have been using the esp stalkers for years, I even use them for pike, dont think you will be disappointed.

In reply to Post #11 I purchased the 3 piece version last week and it seems really nice. Has a good battle curve and packs away tiny.

I've got a Grey's 9ft Stalking Rod and really rate it

In reply to Post #8 Do they do a 9ft 2 piece? Can only find a 3 piece
You had me double checking my rod then
Yes, they used to make the 9' as a 2 piece (mine), though on a quick internet search its now a 3 piece.

In reply to Post #9 I have a 10 foot Free Spirit E-Class Gold rod (think it's 2.5lb) that I am not using much (at all) if that's of interest.

In reply to Post #4 +1, got the 9' Greys Stalker, it's a lovely rod, great action for playing fish but enough power once properly curved into.

I've got a Scope 9ft 2.25tc and have found it ideal for float fishing with lighter lines (6-12lb). I'm sure it'd be a decent close range floater rod.

In reply to Post #4 Got the 9ft 2 piece and the 7ft jungle stick and use them for float fishing amongst the snags.

Greys stalking rod, available in 7' or 9' are worth a look. 3 piece so pack as small as retractable, without the risk (perceived or real?) of scratching up the retractable bit. Reasonable price too

In reply to Post #1 I've used the whychwood extricator rods in 9ft for my stalking, had fish to 38lb and no issues at all . Plenty of backbone in these rods should you need it and I've got some big fish out of dense lily pads on numerous occasions. Not too expensive either !

Maybe a scope 9" 2,25lb?
Have 2 SawnOff 2lb and found the rods ideal for short distance hit and hold situations. For surface fishing I would prefer a longer rod. Most of the time will use then a 11" Harrison 4-piece Avon.

Hi all I'm looking at buying a 9ft or 10ft stalking rod, the carp go up to 20lb and there's plenty of lily beds so need something with a bit of back bone but light enough to use 10lb line free lining bread I'm using a scope sawn off at the moment but found it a bit hairy when close to lily beds ant suggestions
Not worried about price either
Cheers
