I find on smaller venues they shy off big beds of bait. Only come in on it after number of the days. Everyone is almost doing the same thing solid bags, singles or zigs. Every now and again someone piles in the bait and catches 4 in a session but its very rare. The fish are very pressured.

In reply to Post #1 You already seem to have made your mind up, but I offer that you missed the 'what'
If the what is something that's only novel and offers nothing different or may be worse than that which is already on offer your results could be short lived for just that reason.

In reply to Post #1 Both methods work. I always start off light, single hookbaits or 10-20 baits for a bite. Gauge it from there.
Freedom of movement and being mobile can be very effective.
But so can sit, bait and wait approach, especially if weather conditions or feature/s is keeping them in a particular area, big weedbeds, out of bounds areas, snags.

In reply to Post #1 I’ve had my best year on the public lake I fish I’ve had 3 20’s upto 27(biggest in lake apparently)by baiting heavily via spomb or bait boat or catapult(when my batteries died in my boat)and I hear from other guys fishing the lake they fish singles only, which to me is quite dangerous as the bird life can be really bad and they use bright hook baits which attracts them more as the lake is fairly shallow(especially in summer months)and even the swans risk picking them up.
So as the lakes silty and shallow I tend to use lots of small light particles and broken up dark boilies and some whole ones as well so they find it hard to pick up the small baits because they can’t find them as easily as lighter coloured bait

How,when,how much.
I think before any of those we have to ask ourselves WHY.
Is it for confidence or on past experience.
I’ve only pre baited a few lakes and it seems to be short lived.
Plus it’s boring fishing the same areas again and again.
Look to your past results, have they come through baiting.?
I would rather have the freedom of movement.
