Those lenses are recommended for the respective systems just because they are cheap, compact and fairly high quality.
See what f1. 8 Primes sony do in those focal lengths and pick the one that suits you for size and budget.

Personally I prefer a decent zoom for fishing

If you want the equivalent of a 50mm full frame (or there abouts 52.5mm) you will need to get a 35mm for your Sony as it has a 1.5 crop factor.
Likewise if you want full frame 35mm equivalent you would need to get a 24mm lens for your camera.

I know people use a 50mm for canon and 35mm for Nikon? I have a Sony a5000 and I love it as a sole fishing camera but I'm not sure what lense would be best as the equivalent? Help please 😂
