In reply to Post #30 How do you find the tactical x as this on my list along with the Wychwood comforter but can’t find out much about them

Has anyone got any experience of the either the Fox R1, Wychwood Tactical x or Wychwood comforter bedchairs

In reply to Post #1 Sleep systems for me are a bit like the old TV/VHS combo, one part fails you lose both and that is one reason they've never appealed to me.
I use the standard size Wychwood Tactical X because it is light, with and Exped Megamat10 sim and Fortis Snugpak bag, very comfortable and both fold up in the bed.

Hated my Nash ss3. Got a Trakker rlx 6 super lite when they first come out and use an acu sleep system bag on top. Great set up, nice and comfy and about as light as your going to get

In reply to Post #26 I'm a side sleeper too and the CH08 is great. I found it much firmer than my previous trakker bedchair but it has solved the back ache I was getting every morning!👍

In reply to Post #26 The solar sp c tech bed is quite heavy but I put the fortis bag on to keep overall weight down and love it.The other solar bed gets very good feedback too 👍

I’ve narrowed my bedchair search down to The Fox R1/R2 camo bedchair, Wychwood Comforter bedchair and the Solar tackle Bedchair CH08 or if I need to spend a bit more the Trakker levelite lumbar and Solar SP C tech. Benefits of the fox and Wychwood and Trakker are slightly wider and longer than the Solar but knowing Solar theirs will be much better made and last longer. I tend to sleep on my side or front so wondering which would suit my 18-19 stone lump of a frame the most. Also apart from the Wychwood being as cheap as £120 atm the moment the other beds are similar in price apart from the Trakker and Solar SP. so that doesn’t matter too much however weight of bed and bag together will matter as I sold my Nash ss3 wide due to it being too heavy and bulky and don’t want to end up with same

Duotexx is 5kg and the 365 is 6kg - by the looks the duotexx is being faded out as most places are out of stock. So my guessing is the 365 replaced it
Update -messaged trakker and they said to go for the 365 so it must be the newer model

In reply to Post #23 Yes I believe so. Some places still have the duotexx tho.

In reply to Post #22 Is that's what's known as the 365 now?

Cannot rate the Solar CH08 bedchair highly enough. It is incredibly comfortable, no sag and just right in the firmness levels. I got mine for £150 so you can get a good deal on it if you shop around. I have a trakker duotexx sleeping bag on mine meaning I don't have to zip layers in and out as the seasons change. I know many people rate the sleep systems but from experience I can assure you they are not as warm as a separate bag on a bedchair!

In reply to Post #12 I've had the Gardner bag for a few years and would say it's ok, but nothing more.
Pros..
Waterproof camo outter
Good size without being too tight, I'm 5-10
Fleece free, so no getting caught up when moving around
Cons..
Biggest one for me, the bag only comes up to your chin, I've always had bags that could cover your face.
Definitely not a 5 season and you'll need a thermal cover on it come winter
The thin thermal blanket inside is held in by cheap attachments and not a zip.
Zips aren't great.
Had to cut out the annoying and uncomfortable baffle that goes along where your neck is.
The 2 velcro pockets.. pointless as there too small and tight to actually get anything in.

In reply to Post #15 My techlite has been thrown about on my bed and it still looks brandnew,I was worried the material and hoods would not take much abuse but it really does. Its the best bag I've owned on the best bed I've owned

Have tried both over the years but much prefer a separate bag & bedchair. Had a Nash SS4 system std width and although im hardly a chunk it was so restrictive it was claustraphobic, and the bed itself nearly destroyed my back despite para cording the underside . Separates obv give you the option of chopping and changing.. can be costly but when you find the right combo

In reply to Post #10 I tend to sleep on my side most of the time don’t know If certain beds suit side sleeper and others suit those that sleep on their backs. Liking the design of the lumbar support I see the new Avid benchmark ultra that is due out in November has gone down the same route

In reply to Post #14 No don’t mind paying for either. Do like the tech lite but I’m heavy handed and ruin bags and don’t think it would last me 2 years

In reply to Post #12 Of those two bags the trakker 365 is the better bag. If cost is not a major issue.

Think I’m gunna go for the Solar CH08 bed now then pick a sleeping bag to go on it. Only thing to consider for me is the width as I’m quite a big bloke but don’t want the extra weight of wide bed

Any long term reviews on the Gardner duvet compact. Torn between that and the trakker 365 , wouldn’t mind it being slightly lighter but if the trakker is a better bag so be it.
Using the ch08 bed and it’s been superb last 12 months. My cyprinus magnatex has finally given up

In reply to Post #8 Its an individual preference buit like many others Ive had sleep systems lots of them and beds over the years Ive found them too restrictive and gone back to bed and seperate bag the solar sp ctech and snugpak bag my combo of choice
Ive currently got the Sp c tech max standard and wide
Trakker ELS standard and wide
Scope 4 fold Sleep system - ok for carrying and pack down sizer but no longer used and kids use it for camping
And in the past Ive had every version of the nash indulgence ss released but wouldnt go back

So this Solar CH08 bedchair is it a bit like the SP C tech without all the bells and whistles?
|
|
|
|
In reply to Post #1 Im one who hated my Nash sleep system I found it far too restrictive best thing I ever did was quickly sell it
I far and away prefer the versatility of a separate bed and choice of bag or bedchair cover or both as I suffer from claustrophobia I can never have the door down unless it rain driving in then it can come down but no zips
and of course can never have the bag zip up and so the sleep system always had a big gap
my bed now is the Solar CH08 and only slept on it for 2 nights so far but its superb

In reply to Post #5 The wide one wasnt as firm

What do you think makes the wide ones less comfortable than the standards? I have the wide it does take up a lot more room in a spider compact aswell I got almost as much as what I paid for it a year ago so can’t complain

In reply to Post #3 I use the standard width Nash system, it works perfectly for me. I tried the wide version and hated the thing, wasn't anywhere near as comfortable for me. The solar one gets a lot of good reviews and I've had a quick lay on one and it did feel very comfy. But as the Nash ones have been perfect for me, I'll definitely be looking at theirs when mine is due for renewal.

I do agree we all sleep different ways and some like a form mattress others prefer to sink into one I’ve asked around a few tackle shops and the general consensus is that very one that got back me recommended the Solar SP C tech sleep system but I read in here and they said they hated theirs but saying that it was just one person most say it’s a brilliant setup and the best you can get

In reply to Post #1 Beds are very personal things, you can get all the advice you want but it may be of little help to you. What is comfortable for one, is awful for another. I won't go back to a seperate bed and bag as I far prefer the system, I find it more comfortable and with the layers they have find them very adaptable for the different seasons. Others are the complete opposite. So the best thing you can do is get to a shop, try some out and decide what works for you

Having just sold my nash SS3 wide all season I’m now looking at buying a new bed setup having trawled through most of the previous threads on here I see equally as many people prefer the sleep systems as those that prefer a separate bedchair and sleeping bag. I found I found my SS3 wide too heavy, bulky and a pain to get in and out of an average sized estate car I also didn’t find it all that comfortable. So now I’m trying to decide whether to go for another sleep system or get a separate bedchair and sleeping bag. I’m 5’11” and approx 18st so what I choose will have to be supportive but I don’t want it to weigh a tonne as I’ve had before. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
