I had a recent experience with a fox bedchair where a leg would telescope into itself under my weight.

Contacted AD and sent back for them to repair the leg. I assume it went back to fox. Came back to me with a new leg but this one wouldn’t fully retract. It was 2 inches proud

Sent that back and they sent me a brand new bed. Took it out the box to test it and 2 of the legs had the same collapsing under weight issue.

Have to say that AD were brilliant as far as customer service. All the collections and redelivery etc was arranged and their communication was great.

Fox on the other hand….. you’d honestly expect a £350 bedchair to be designed and manufactured to actually work. I’ll think twice about buying fox gear in future. Utter garbage.

i haven't found them too bad over the years, i always prefer to go to my local tackle shop if they what im after.

the most recent return experience i had was was with an Advanta Sleeping bag my wife bought me for christmas. It has a crash zip but when i went to pull the bag apart to get to my rod for a take, the zip ripped away from the bag and exposed all of the stuffing.

Went to the Southampton store, showed them the bag, they were prepared to swap it immediately but discovered they had no stock and it was discontinued, this happened a week prior.

Advanta had just bought out a new model which was much better than my original, fleece lined, waterproof, better zips, warmer, removable lining for summer use and it was only £10 more.

I'm glad my old one broke because what i have now is much better and would recommend it to anyone

Retailers often have on-line prices which aren't available in store, are you saying this wasn't a internet only deal, if you are, it's not clear

It really is a joke of a company. A few yrs ago I popped into the Norwich shop fora set of sonic alarms inan emergency.
Got told the set was £150 so I asked if the would match an Internet price. He asked what the price was so told him £125.

The reply was £135 is the closest we can get to it. So I asked if they could get the Internet on the till. He replied yes. So I said type this in. (Yep you guessed it )

Always check net prices when in the shop and point it out to them.

My local one in Sutton in ashfield is bang on always helpful and help order parts years after warranty. Have to admit they are changing how they stock stuff now and seem to be favoring a large warehouse system. Remember lads these stock more than just carp stuff.

Ive just ordered an overwrap for my trakker and had choice of tackle tavern with one in stock or angling direct with a few in stock,so I decided the tackle tavern can have the £160 (£5 more in AD)rather the shop and it really and I confirmed everything via email before buying it as I find AD stick levels online very miss leading

I have used them a few times and they have been faultless, I normally use my local tackle shop in Keynsham but AD have some cracking deals that my local shop can't compete with

Not the best are they...hmm.
I rang my local AD store, they gave me a CS direct number, might be worth you doing the same if you haven't already sorted it

Report them to trading standards especially if you have it in writing

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/report-to-trading-standards/

Check what you should report to Trading Standards

they tried to stop you using your legal rights - for example, they said you can’t return faulty goods

I hadn't used them before for anything substantial.

I'm a regular at Poingdestras and Johnson Ross and for anything carpy I use them exclusively.

This pole was for a match fishing holiday I went on at the end of June and they had what I wanted in stock, albeit they sent me seconds.

I've just had a further response from Angling Direct and it went along the lines of :-

"we have a policy which we are sticking to and we don't recognise the law or any obligation on us above our own internal policy"

Lovely people

I think most people who use these Jokers on a regular basis haven't yet had a problem. When you do get a problem it's like dealing with a child with a page full of dodges on how to avoid sorting the problem. If you catch them out or quote the law they have a hissy fit and just ignore the reality.

They have managed to obtain a 13% disapproval rating (3 stars and below) on Trust Pilot. That takes some doing for a company selling fishing tackle to a captive market. That means that 1 person in 7 is dissatisfied in some way with the purchase or service.

I normally use Johnson Ross or Pongdestras and in the years I've used these two retailers there has been one complaint and it was dealt with immediately. As a consequence, I've spent thousands with them both.

Doesn’t matter what their policy is it’s what the law says

Bout time some of these shops/suppliers got a bit of the consumer rights act then maybe some of the more expensive gear might last longer
You would kick up a fuss if the bed at home only lasted a year lol

What a bunch of Cowboys

I have just come off the phone with a manger (Channel) in the Customer Service Department and to say I’m annoyed is an understatement.

I purchased a pole in May / June 2023 and when I used it for the first time in early July 2023 I found that sections didn’t fit properly and the ferrule on one section showed signs of de-lamination. I spoke to AD on the 10th July 2023 and was told to either photograph the faulty pole sections and issue these to AD or travel to the nearest AD shop (70 mile round trip)

I photographed the pole sections and issued my email spelling out the problems on the 12th July 2023

I understood that if the goods were faulty the cost of replacement is down to the supplier because of its breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, somebody needs to tell AD because their view is that part of the cost of replacement lies with the customer.

It is AD’s view and policy that the cost is shared and they won’t budge from this view.

I’ve now had to issue a Letter Before Action and will no doubt have to issue County Court proceedings.

I must have ordered from them 50 times and they've been faultless, although have started trying to order from smaller companies regardless.

So, haven't posted on here for ages, however. I ordered a Nash Sleep System Wide from Angling Direct on 11th July. Free delivery was five working days. The price was a monthly special of £149.99. So today 18th July I phoned as no item received. I was told the following. " Oh yes, the item is out of stock and we should have emailed you, plus our warehouse is telling me that there has been an issue with these items.,
So I asked for a refund. Got told we will give you a credit, to which I said a full refund not a credit note the customer care ( ha ha ) person got stroppy and said we will refund you I never mentioned credit. Oh and guess what their site is now showing item in stock for the same price. I have ordered the same item from a different tackle shop. Angling Direct you are truly awful.
