I use 29lb Daiwa J-Braid in 8 strand plus a shock leader. Have complete confidence in the setup, never had a crack off even with hitting the clip at some force. Thin diameter of the 8strand braid makes casting a breeze as well.

This is what I use
Angryfish 50lb braid, although because I use it on the same rod for marker and spod, I use an Amnesia mono leader.
Never cracked off with a midi x Spomb, or 3.5oz lead and marker

second this, if it's for spodding/marker work only then go with the cheaper stuff. I know others that use spectra/dyneema in 30 or 4lb straight through like I do and theyll hit good ranges and dont crack off.
I've had the same 40lb yellow spectra on for 2 years now and apart from the colour fading it's done it's job and been abused along the way. It's like £15 for 1000m spool so you'll do a couple of respools with that.

Banana braid for me .. with a 35lb esp leader .

On my local parks if you spomb mixers and leave the spomb out to the side of the area ,the bright yellow braid acts like a laser beam and the gulls and birds will not come near it

Bonus

The first questions I'd be asking are, how many metres on the reel, how far is your maximum cast and has the braid ever been reversed ?
I bet thousands of metres of braid are discarded annually that have been buried in the lower levels of a spool and have never even seen the light of day never mind been used.

Banana braid for me also used it for years in 30lb and never used a leader and that’s with using the TF gear airbomb which puts a lot of shock through the braid and never had it snap angling direct have it in stock

Bananna braid - recently tried the fox stuff and it snapped like cotton after minimal use. Check the Tackle Box line tests

After recommendations on here I went with spectra braid off eBay, dead cheap and with a 50lb armakord leader I've not had any problems. I went with 30lb in orange and the colour has faded quite alot but if that doesn't bother you I would go for it

After 5 seasons I need to respool my spod reel with braid. Always been a user of 30lb whiplash straight through on my spod and never had any problems with it at all. Just seen the new whiplash is called whiplash 8 which I'm assuming means its an 8 strand braid in 32lb. Does anyone have any experience with this / rate it ?
I bought a spool of spider braid off of ebay last year to use on my fishing rods and thought it was excellent so dont know whether its worth just using some of that as its £30 for 1000m or giving this new whiplash a go ?
