True sinking braid will be well on the deck. I use korda sub braid and power pro with 1.5m mono and fluoro leaders with no trace beads, or medium bore beads on a float stop with heavier or irregular hookbaits that dislodge the no traces. To be honest I find leadcore the best and therefore safest for connecting and bead compatibility etc. with heli/leader set ups on mono or braid
I don’t use lead clips at all, just an enterprise run ring on mono/fluoro straight through

No buddy not on the heavy Fluoro. Fox illusion 50lb I use. Never needed to with fish up to 40lb. Same leader for 12 months or more

When I used hydro sink I’d use 3-5ft of 50lb Fluoro. Use Korda large sinkers and no trace beads. Just helped playing aggressive fish close in

I just wonder how well the sinking braid actually sinks. That’s why I thought with a long leader at least i know a good section will definitely be pinned down. Do you use a fluro leader with braid yourself? Do you have a preference for helicopter or lead clip on a fluro leader?

I wouldn’t lose sleep over the top bead, with a 20ft+ leader the rig probably won’t make it that far up the line without tethering anyway.
Personally, I don’t see the need for more than 1.5m of leader on (sinking) braid or just use fluoro mainline.

I have used this before but I found the Korda line saver beads would split as I pulled them on to the fluro, I don’t think they are suitable really for thick fluorocarbon leaders.

I'm also interested as I have concerns of the bead getting over the albright knot. I was hoping to use the no trace beads as I do like that system, but the rubber part was quite loose on the flouro.

Hi all, I’m going to be using braided mainline on my new water this season, it’s a small, very tricky, gin clear weedy water. My plan is to use a fluorocarbon leader of around 20ft so I can keep the business end pinned down, I’m just unsure whether to use it naked as a helicopter set up or naked with just a lead clip or even attaching a short section of leadcore as a helicopter system. Can any of you who use braided mainline give me any suggestions or advice? Thanks
