Walcot East and West on the their books are lovely long estate lakes, I took a look about 8 years ago (possibly longer) and at that time it was a single ticket that you could fish both sides it was my understanding that the fish could move between both lakes under the road bridge which divided the East from the West that leads to the estate house, they possibly have now closed this off or not? obviously as it now reads since then they have split it into two separate syndicates (still might still be fishing for the same carp if they can still move between lakes).

The East lake was all single bank fishing as was the west in the main from memory I think there may have only been a swim or two on the West side on the opposite bank near the island and bridge, the opposite bank is basically the lawns of the estate house.

Stone Arch looks great, have my name down there but who knows how long it'll take.
I joined Caerphilly angling club in the end, a couple of interesting lakes with nice looking fish if not massive.

Been a while now since I had any regular contact with anyone fishing the place used to have a few mates fishing it sometime ago I only know one angler fishing it these days, they've always been reluctant to pass on information was given a number a few years back not sure if it's even relevant these days, some nice looking fish in there touching 30's and just over I believe, there is another lake on the pits now gone syndicate as well big money though 800 a year I've heard, again a bit of a who you know rather than publicized, I know the lake it was one of the first ones dug many years ago and reputedly had 30's swimming around sometime back.

Used to be a lovely little syndicate lake I fished at Kinnersley years ago called the Vallets ran by a guy called Clive only a small acreish sized pond but well set out its a nadgery little shape with pads and small islands, he built the house then dug the lake I know he sold it a few years back might be worth the 30 minute drive from Brecon to see if its still fishable then you have the Oxbow lake at Letton Court just around the corner which did a 40 recently not an easy water but a few to go at, used to be a few carp caught in the Wye at Glasbury and Hay.

Afternoon mate,

Just been reading the South Wales syndicate thread. I'm based in Brecon but from the south east of England so don't know my arse from my tail.

I'm trying to find something Herefordshire way and was just wondering if the Wellington pit syndicate has some reasonable looking fish in and if so are you in a position to pass on any contact details? Struggling to find out much on the internet and don't know any local carp fisherman.

Thank you

Christian

👍 exactly my thoughts, absolutely ruined it they have in my opinion. Much better off buying an scac ticket and tackling the crowds, at least they are nice looking lakes with some nice old fish in.

Another to add to the list is Thorn syndicate in Hereford. Nice little lake with some good fish in there. Not been on there for a few years but still follow and the fish seem to be doing really well. No idea of waiting list though I'm afraid but I do know membership is up for renewal now

I personally wouldn't bother with Aspen more or a less canal style lake now, full of mud pigs pasties, easy to catch with no challenge really. Unfortunately the owner has ruined it, though he has made millions filling it in with the spoil from the gravel pits been dug in and around the water park.

Would it be possible to PM details too please? Also in South Wales and struggling for somewhere to get my name down. Fished The Birch and have been traveling up to Horseshoe lately which I love but having to think well ahead with the size of waiting lists these days

From South Wales myself mate. Know exactly what you means with lists full etc. lamby and the birch are a good start. Within your travel time.

Also sent you a pm to the syndicate I was on last year. It’s something special but full this year May have a place or two next season.

Cheers
Brent

Looks like Aspen have now closed their waiting list also, familiar story!

Wellington looks like 90 mins for me so could work if you can share info please?

I drove past Hartleton recently so will take a look at that also.

I think most if not all the works are finished at Aspen now, I seem to remember seeing a post recently that the waiting list was about 12 weeks as anglers membership runs from the time they join/pay rather than one yearly date for all.

There is Wellington pit syndicate just north of Hereford not sure about waiting list length/time atm and how that suits your travelling time I know a few anglers on there catching some nice fish these days, the lake was initially set up/stocked by Martin from the Birch but the relationship with the lake owner and Martin didn't last long and folded pretty quickly, it had it's problems with otters from the nearby Lugg quite a few years ago but has been fenced for some time now and the fish have benefited from it, I believe it is run by someone who works for Dinemore Estate who actually own the lake from what I was last informed it's around 15/17 acres quite deep in places but does get heavily weeded during the summer or used to.

Not a syndicate you also have the two lakes at Hartleton along the M50 corridor just past Ross on Wye heading towards the M5 you pay a yearly fee, fifty pound I think to be a member then pay per session all done online for booking your fishing in, about 30 to 40 pegs across two similar sized lakes of around 8 to 10 acres each it does get quite busy at times some 30's in Rogers with one or two in the Dub plenty of back up fish coming through reasonable head of 20lb+ I think they start advertising memberships April/June time.

There is also a new syndicate being setup this year around the Malvern/Worcestershire area it's been fenced and recently had a stocking of 400 fish not sure when this is due to startup though Information a bit limited atm.

Thanks, no hadn't looked at lamby or birch so will investigate. I used to live near Swindon so know horcott and aspen well. What's aspen like now do you know, when I was there they were still doing lots of earth works.

Staying in Wales have you checked out the lists for Lamby and The Birch? Think both are full but having fished both in the past definitely worth a look for you. Lots of lakes in the Cotswolds but difficult to get info unless you know someone. Horcott and Aspen are a couple for you to look at

Trying to plan ahead and think about venues for a few years time. I live in South Wales so choice locally is limited. Current water will keep me going for a little while but wanted to get my name onto some waiting lists but so far even the waiting lists are full.
Does anyone know of any water that is taking on members even if just to the waiting list? Willing to travel up to 2 hours from Swansea area so Bristol/gloucs/Cotswolds within reach. Open to most options but prefer not urban so discounted the wharf.
