Fluro is your friend in this scenario. No backleads needed. I found that a flying backlead affects the hook length flying up your mainline/leader as your mainline behind the lead sinks too fast

Are you fishing at very short range? If at more than about 30 yards your line will be sunk nicely anyway without the need for backleading. If closer in then a little blob of putty up the line a little way will do the trick, backleads are more agro than they are worth a lot of the time

Backleads always hamper bite indication to a degree.

if you're using a heli set up I'd be more concerned about the safety aspect - the back lead AND the rig would need to run up and off the mainline to the point of breakage, and personally I think the backlead would make this harder.

Why not use a long sinking leader rather than naked, or if you must fish naked then a flouro mainline?

Fishing a shallow lake I’m convinced having my line of the deck slightly is costing me bites! I use a naked helicopter set up as I’m confident in that set up however I would like to use a flying back lead to pin a bit of line down. I really like the looks of the Gardner removable back leads would this set up I’m describing hamper bite indication?
