Not really a comment about FAS, but if you are in a good syndicate and it saves you money on on midweek travel and B&B’s then it’s probably” paying for itself”. Even Wellington looks reasonable compared to a couple nights in the Reading Premier Inn per week for a few months every year!
If you’re getting bored of the syndicate that’s another matter

In reply to Post #30 Still a lot of members as it's such good value for money. Better if you can go midweek.

I'm just restarting this thread to see if there are any more up to date views on the club. I'm in the area a bit for work and at the moment use my syndicate near Reading as a place for overnighters midweek but considering whether or not to renew that ticket as it's getting expensive (the water itself is awesome, but I'm trying to weigh this against what use I'm getting for my money). So I have been considering this ticket, which is a fraction of the cost and gives a good number of waters to choose from. I am aware of the KHV on Yately South which is a shame, and I would avoid those lakes. Any views or feedback much appreciated

In reply to Post #26 Yeah I thought it might be mate, definitely be giving it a go when I have a bit more time!

In reply to Post #27 I'm very fortunate to be a midweek angler which is why I've taken the gamble 🙂 to be honest I had heard about Match and South, so was more tempted by Nursery and Copse, Tarn Pond looks lovely too and the Stillwater lakes. There is plenty of choice and I can be relatively flexible with days as I run a pub, so I'm sure I will be able to settle on somewhere

Just renewed my ticket for the 3rd year. It is fantastic value but unfortunately means the member count is very high. Be prepared for some very busy lakes, especially over the next few months. Match, Badshot lea and South Lakes very busy but seem to quieten down in the colder months. More chance if you can fish midweek or early on friday morning if you want to do the weekend.

In reply to Post #25 Bull to try and keep people away .

In reply to Post #24 I think that's Warren pond, looks a nice place. My ticket starts on the 1st so it will be nice to walk round a few of the lakes and get a feel for the place.
I've heard all the stories about Mill Lane being a funny place too, sadly you just never know whether it's true or locals making it sound rougher than it is to keep people off
I also really like the look of some of the Basingstoke canal stretches too

In reply to Post #23 I had a Farnham ticket 20 years ago it wasn't as rammed as what i'm reading here .. I think it was called Cut Mill the place I liked the most had a couple of nice fish out of there but you were never sure what damage would be done to vehicles in the carpark and it was a bit clicky over there not friendly at all ... 1 season was enough for me ..

In reply to Post #22 I'm looking forward to it tbh. I've got a 2 week old little girl at the moment so will probs spend first few months doing days dotted around venues, then once things have settled would really like to spend some time on Mill

In reply to Post #21 I heard mill lake is known as the divorce lake lmao

In reply to Post #20 Think match and south are pretty busy.
On mill lane there’s a ticket system I think so at least you’ll be guaranteed a swim but as others say it’s meant to be hard water so can see people dropping off after spring

In reply to Post #19 I'm due to start in April mate, when I spoke to someone at the club they said match was their busiest lake. Purely at a guess, I can imagine Mill Lane being very busy early part of the season until a few drop off once they realise how hard it is

In reply to Post #18 Just got my ticket, can anyone say what lakes get the busiest I’m looking to start on the Mill

In reply to Post #12 Definitely not the case in this instance bud. It was that bad well before Corona, and has only got worse (if even possible).
In reply to Post #16 Yeah I get it, as I say I've spent years avoiding it, but we've just had our second child so need somewhere fairly cheap and close. Literally all of their lakes are around an hour from my house so not far at all
In reply to Post #15 That's fair enough fella, for me I wont be joining again next season, it's a fair old drive for me, and turning up to a packed out lake is something I dont particularly want in life anymore. That said it is a good ticket for the money.

In reply to Post #14 I've spent years avoiding busy lakes, but I've kind of got to the point where I've realised, aside from the very odd exception, that if I want to catch good fish and at a rate I can afford, then busy is something I'm going to have to put up with.
In reply to Post #12 But it's an honest assessment of what it's like recently, even in the summer months, when lot of people were back at work it was rammed. I can remember going over on a Monday night, and it was still over half full
In reply to Post #12 Do you know these waters? Definitely not just last year that the lakes were overly busy. It’s a cheap ticket but they sell far too many to cover that. Depends how tolerant you are of busy lakes.
A lot of people are basing views on these lakes on how busy it’s been last year. This furlough and self employed pay outs has sent everyone out on the bank, not really fair to go off last year. A lake near me had 4 people Night fishing last year. Only a match style lake abs never seen anyone else night fish it in the last 10 yrs
In reply to Post #9 Even Stillwater gets rammed mate, several times last summer couldn’t even get in the car park let alone a swim.
In reply to Post #6 I fish the north at yateley and the car parks for the Farnham side look like a van sales forecourt!!!
Literally never seen it not rammed.
In reply to Post #8 Yeah I have already told myself the match lake I probably won't even give a thought too. The nursery really looks good and apparently is a little quieter. You also have Frensham and the Stillwater lakes, and I'm guessing (maybe wrongly) these may be quieter as the majority will be on Yateley?
In reply to Post #1 I think it’s the highest membership of any club in the country?
I keep threatening to buy a ticket for mid week work nights as Yateley is only 10 minutes from the office. From speaking to a number of guys who I know have/have had tickets it’s difficult to even get a swim, let alone fish where you want. Mid week sounds equally as bad as the weekend but I’d love to be corrected on that. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like during Furlough!!
Every time I decide it’s got to be worth the £120, a quick drive by the Match car park soon sees some scuttling back into my shell.

In reply to Post #5 I think like you say, the price point certainly makes it attractive as even if you do limited sessions you still get your money back. Furlough will have made a huge difference this year so hoping things calm down midweek, I've certainly struggled everywhere I've been in terms of how busy it's been, even during the winter this year. I'm so used to having this banks to myself in January etc it's been a bit of a shock to the system🤣🤣
In reply to Post #1 Very very busy
In reply to Post #4 Guessing so many furloughed people having more time to be able to spend on bank is a bit of a consequence of that. I expect it’ll be busy but for the price it’s not bad, can do 6 nights across the year and will have paid for itself as majority of day tickets are £25 ish per 24 hours.

A mate of mine got his ticket back last year, done nothing but complain about how busy the waters were. So much so he might not renew this year
In reply to Post #2 Ah that's good news, really looking forward to getting stuck in to the waters, it looks a really good selection. Yateley is the obvious draw but plenty of others to go at too

In reply to Post #1 Hi,
I was a member years back and did get quite busy weekends. I didn’t do much mid week but guessing would be quieter.
I have just renewed my membership with them on Thursday evening and already received the new pack so speedy service by them.

Hi all,
I've been looking at joining Farnham Angling Society this year. Looking at the website it seems to have more than enough venues that take my fancy, is there anyone on here that can give me a little advice?
I'm assuming it's a very busy ticket, I fish midweek so should be better I'm guessing?
I'm really interested in a couple of lakes, obviously the Yateley lakes are interesting, with Nursery perhaps being the one that I really like the look of. How busy does that get? Frensham little pond also looks great, however I can already guess I am likely to get very little info on that.
I'm not looking for tactics and baits etc, just general info. I appreciate some may rather private message.
Thank you in advance, not been on this forum for a good few years, amazed its still carried on with Facebook etc
