I hope none of you put a lot of money on night fishing being allowed.
We can't fish nights...yet... end of discussion I think.

In reply to Post #114 I said beg of April🙄 The gyms and campsite will open at the same time but what I’m saying is campsites won’t let you camp because of the facilities situation

night fishing is camping end of really

In reply to Post #108 'Is the truth not – the real reason for the Night Fishing ban is because the perception has developed that all who go night fishing get pissed out of their heads and have a right old jolly, and thanks to this perception ALL have got tarred with the same brush '
Its not perception though is it - its a reality and we all know it. A lot of carp anglers don't have two brain cells to rub together and love nothing more than ruining things for the rest of us.
You can't judge the rules by your own standards - they have to take into account the lowest common denominator.

In reply to Post #108 By my definition if you are sleeping overnight in or under a tent, tarp or bivvy you are camping. While camping you can fish. Not that it matters in the slightest, it's the overnight issue, no vernight camping=no overnight fishing, and why should we be different. In these circumstances no room for foot stamping primadonnas.,
In reply to Post #108 Let's hope by the 8th of march will be all camping ⛺️ opps sorry fishing
In reply to Post #108 Camping overnight essentials : tent, sleeping bag, pillow, cooking equipment, sounds exactly like fishing minus rods.
The reason why fishing is banned is because you're not allowed to stay away from home overnight. I would guarantee next to no one in parliament even knows what is involved when carp fishing, think you're looking for an excuse which isnt there
In reply to Post #105 By definition if you have baited Rods in the water you are fishing – not camping.
No form of Camping equipment is essential to go fishing; you also defiantly don’t need any fishing equipment if you are going Camping, simples.
Is the truth not – the real reason for the Night Fishing ban is because the perception has developed that all who go night fishing get pissed out of their heads and have a right old jolly, and thanks to this perception ALL have got tarred with the same brush

In reply to Post #103 Some of the lakes I've fished in winter over the years, definitely camping.
In reply to Post #103 disagree
camp sites for instance, anything that involves camping. if we fish, then they can also open...
camping is so much more than fishing.
Licence means you can camp fishing..simples
In reply to Post #103 You can do both at the same time
In reply to Post #100 There’s zero comparison to other sectors, the fact you have to have a Fishing Licence kind of blows the “Camping bit” out of the water, try saying to the EA “I don’t need a licence if I fish at night as I’m Camping” see how far you get without being prosecuted.

In reply to Post #96 the issue remains that so many dont take any notice of said lockdown guidance's.
youve only got to see the amount of pple wandering around in huge groups without a care in the world.
re laws, your correct, i dont agree with 70mph speed limit on motorways, but its law and we are supposed to follow. Not saying i do all the time of course.
if we had tuff lockdown laws ie like some other countries, then im convinced we wouldnt have had the lockdowns and cases as we have
again, the night fishing rule does seem mad, but what about everything else that involves camping? if we can do it, why can others?
In reply to Post #100 We camp a lot. As a family and I also go on my own but take my rods It’s just as much confusing as night fishing. We can camp from beg April but only vans and statics no tents as facilities cannot be shared by multiple people (showers toilets etc) yet I can go to the gym use all equipment then have a shower
In reply to Post #98 its more to do with if we can camp out so can many other sectors

I’m finding it very hard to warrant the Night Fishing Ban, that’s if people are ACTUALLY going Night Fishing.
Your driving to your Local venue, stopping “X” amount of time, then you’re driving back home. Whether “X” is one hour, 10 hours or 24 hours is totally irrelevant to the situation. By design your chosen area to fish was positioned to isolate you from anyone to your left or right, IF everyone stuck to their swims, plus the 2m distance rule – I can't see a problem.
Think the problem is nobody could be arsed to police the situation if someone was so badly educated (Nice way of saying “Thick”) that they struggled to adhere to such simple basic rules.
On the other side of the coin – I could have taken a very short drive last night at 9pm to any of three private local waters, and I absolutely guarantee there would have been people night fishing on all three! Again – it’s no good implementing a Night Fishing ban if nobody can even be arsed to Police it.

In reply to Post #96 Depends n the quality of the mask ultimately.
Lots of medical staff whom have no choice have not had it.
How could anyone imagine how bad this was going to be - you seem so critical of the NHS and how are you qualified to make that statement ?
For example in parts of Asia some have had 5 or more lockdowns (I know this because I work for a company that has manufacturing and other businesses out their) so your point does not carry any weight does it ?
Mutations are you really qualified to make that assumption or is it something you read in the daily mail ?
Overnight fishing - I’d think that would constitute fishing through the period of nighttime ~ how’s that difficult for you to grasp ?
In reply to Post #87 I'm sorry, I don't agree.
Despite all government guidelines or laws coronavirus has continued to spread; must wear a facemask in shops. It is being passed on through your shopping time. You are breathing corona virus in, through your mask, in the lovely air conditioned heated air.
Through the workplace, again, perfect environment for viruses to travel.
Lockdown was always to slow the spread, basically to allow the understaffed and underequipped NHS hospitals to cope, however, it has extended the crisis, and allowed the Covid virus to mutate.
Most people with coronavirus have minimal or no symptoms. Of those with no symptoms, 1 in 3 will produce a negative test!
Every mutation is basically a new disease, so it is quite possible that people can catch it more than once.
Just because a law is in place, does not always make it right, does not make it just. Obviously the basic 10 Commandments, but sometimes there are times when the law is used incorrectly.
I asked a genuine question a long time ago; what constitues no fishing overnight? I can fish after work, but say I finish at 10pm. An hour after work is no different to if I finish work at 4pm.
The rule I think was to cover camping out.

In reply to Post #94 My sister will be losing £6,000 a day takings over Easter,I dont think she can make that back by putting a few pence on a pint or a quid on a meal.Wales might decide they are opening things up earlier than us

In reply to Post #90 Was never going to open before easter - the govt said as much weeks ago. They want to avoid a mass exodus to Devon/Cornwall/Lake District/etc over a weekend and everything that will go along with it.
Most places will be able to charge what they like once open, they’ll get their money back. The people I know down here have put their prices up hugely, and they are still fully booked.

In reply to Post #89 how true is that!!
problem re government decisions is not just us as anglers.
if they allowed night fishing, camping then that would have opened up so many other activities that involve the great outdoors. SO, ban the lot, get it over n done with, open up sooner.
i feel desperately sorry for all the business's that have been affected as Braders has just mentioned, so selfish anglers should just set an example really.
But again, just my opinion

Could be 1000s of jobs going if caravan parks are not open for Easter holidays. My sister has a pub in Barmouth and it won't be good if has another Easter closed

In reply to Post #84 I should have said "in my opinion"
thankfully, my lake isnt one of those waters where its rammed
My post wasnt a pop, i promise.
i have a 50 acre at the bottom of my field, fishing has been closed, the amount of people wandering, dogs, kids, bikes, blah blah is unbelievable...in fact, id go as far as to say pathetic. Yet everyone moans about lockdowns, you can see why we are in the crap with R rates

In reply to Post #82 I must admit some of the replies on their Facebook page are laughable. Some seem to think the AT are in a position to negotiate, how they've come to that conclusion is beyond me

In reply to Post #84 It might not sit with you, but thems the rules.
Doesn’t sit with me that I haven’t been in the same house as my parents since November, but I’m not going to be to blame if they catch anything nasty........
It’s only fishing ffs.
In reply to Post #83 I’m all for sticking to the rules fella, if there’s logic in them. As long as your staying local, having to wind in drive home then drive back the next morning doesn’t sit with me. thing is every man and his dog would be out doing nights tomorrow if they announced it today. day tickets I understand why nights can’t be allowed. To many people to many socials ect, I guess it depends on the angling you do and the waters you fish.
In reply to Post #81 and that is EXACTLY what is wrong with society.
crack on and keep head down...sums up why we are in the crap yet again.
whilst im not a fan of banning night fishing, rules are rules for a reason, and that reason is to try and keep people safe, and stop infection rates going up..but as per...
"Im alright jack, so sod the rest"

AT suggesting on Facebook that it will be March 29th
COVID-19 ROADMAP OUT OF LOCKDOWN - WHAT IT MEANS FOR ANGLING
Although it’s positive that the government have accepted the case that outdoor activities such angling should be first to fully open up it looks like no real change for us until March 29th when restrictions are lifted and outdoor sports can resume. The Stay Home message and travel restrictions remain in place until then with the exception of a provision for outdoor recreation as well as exercise. Since angling has been deemed ‘permissible exercise’ throughout lockdown this is unlikely to affect us. We will know more when the regulations and DCMS guidance are published in the coming days and will update everybody if anything changes. Having a clear date at least means that anglers, clubs and fisheries can plan for the forthcoming season with more certainty and we can all look forward to once again being able to fish our favourite waters in a manner of our choosing.
In reply to Post #80 Just go and get on with it, use your common sense it ain’t hard. stay local guidance is being scrapped on 29th from what I’ve seen? Nights were allowed when overnight stays weren’t last lockdown. soon as all other outdoor sports are allowed on 29th then I can’t see there being any issues. Plenty just using their common sense and going already.
In reply to Post #77 There is no definition of how far local is, ergo, it's my nearest water I can fish, so it's local. Been doing it three times a week, zero issues. At 6am it takes me 25 minutes to get there, very local thank you. I had to travel further than that to get the car serviced and to even get my covid jab
In reply to Post #73 A couple of fellas out for a midnight stroll down a very dark towpath. I was quite relieved they both took a sharp step back when I stood up tbh.
It's put me off doing it again, but unless it's raining the river looks like a commercial match lake during the day
Can't see the AT successfully lobbying for a start before the 29th just for night fishing on this occasion
In the case of match fishing....it states that on the 29th, "Formally organised outdoor sports can also restart"....so that is clear...............night fishing could even have to wait until 12th April if they class it as a "staycation"....
In reply to Post #76 I doubt 22 miles would be ‘local’ 🙄
In reply to Post #69 29th March, hmmm... I think that'll be the green light to travel further than 'local', what ever the feck that means - I've been regularly fishing a water that's 25 to 30 minutes drive (22 miles), with no issues what so ever. I'll hedge my bets on the 29th April for night fishing. I think it'll hinge on this milestone ... UK "staycations" away from home permitted, with self-contained accommodation able to reopen for use by members of the same household. Personally, Id like to see no night fishing remain all year, such a breath of fresh air without the time bandits camping out in the best swims for weeks on end... anyway, at least I will be able to get a hair cut before I go
In reply to Post #67 I’m not clever enough to to add screen grabs but I took one from their post that said
‘ you can fish right through the night if you want to . As long as you are fishing not just sleeping in a bivvy ‘
When the night fishing thing first got asked
In reply to Post #67 Unfortunately they were the words of a Mr Salter. Tbf this whole thing is governed by the people now. The government have to preempt what the people are going to do, so they dont look like they are losing control

In reply to Post #71 Who said that to you duggs, some busybody?
In reply to Post #65 Fair enough, but the wording here is open to interpretation. If you are no longer legally required to stay at home, then no laws are being broken if you do.
Travel should be minimised. So, what's the difference between going fishing for the day or going for a couple of days? It's still 2 journeys.
Unless the parameters are clear and framed legally, people will interpret these restrictions, with some validity. Which is why Baw-Jaws made such a mess of things not once, but 3 times, now.
In reply to Post #67 Some people seem unable to draw a line between fishing at night and overnight fishing.
I had a bit of confrontation last night, I had a late start this morning so finally found time to get a few hours down the river, left home around 9, ten minute walk to the river, one rod+centrepin, no chair, no brolly..
Apparently that's not allowed
In reply to Post #67 I agree you would think this was pretty straight forward, nope ! Just tried to rearrange 2 sessions I’ve got booked for the 17th of March for 48hrs and the 24th of March for 48hrs (been booked since December) neither are willing to rebook yet because they reckon it will change by then and apparently the angling trust are pushing for us to be allowed sooner 🤷♀️ Then after the 29th of March he said (stay local) Got a 4 day session booked for the 6th of April but is about 3 hours away that lake is also saying they won’t re book yet till they no whats going to be classed as local.
3 different lakes all saying the same thing, are angling trust telling them something else that we don’t no?
I reckon 29th March listening to BJ and the plans being laid out........
In reply to Post #60 I think we are being pessimistic thinking April 12th. Fishing is seen as exercise and good for mental wellbeing. We could go fishing even when golf was banned.
My money is on March 29th.
My first non-syndicate paid session is the 13th April, wow, I could be the first doing nights, and bagging up.

In reply to Post #64 there lays an issue and the AT wording was wrong, albeit people picked the bones out of it purely to look for a loop hole
camping is fishing at night, we hardly sit there all night with a float rod in hand

In reply to Post #64 I'm just trying to find a positive to stop all the whinging...
I'd say if camping overnight is going to be allowed from that date, then it's a fair bet to say there'll be no obstacles for night fishing - and no need for the AT to try and circumvent rules...
if it's sooner then fair enough, but I can't see it being later given that statement
In reply to Post #60 That was my argument before in another thread, the AT in the November lockdown said that fishing overnight was ok, because you wasnt camping.

Doesn't the road map also say that people will no longer be legally required to stay at home from 29th March but minimise all travel, wherever possible?
That's more than a little contradictory.

just looking through what Boris is currently proposing
from April 12th ...
'Self-contained holiday accommodation, such as self-catering lets and camp sites'
The camp site aspect made me think that would tie in with overnight fishing...

In reply to Post #39
I'm doing the occasional day session for pike more than anything else. No big fish but still catching a few, and eyeing up the lake for any moving carp.
I'd prefer to fish an overnight session, simply due to travelling. I'm not good at getting up at 3am, doing an agency shift until 8 then back via a days fishing at the lake. I find driving home in the dark uncomfortable, led headlights are blinding and give me headaches.
I think that overnight fishing will be allowed from April, but would like to be proved wrong with an earlier date.
In reply to Post #57 it will be in a tier system as before with stronger controls

The issue for most is not when night fishing will be allowed, it will be when "stay local" is dropped.
Can't see that being dropped before 8th March, but will it go as late as 29th March? Hope not personally.

In reply to Post #49 Your journey to work is essential. And thank you for all the excellent work you do.
Unfortunately, your journey to the lake isnt essential.

In reply to Post #48 I hope so, I never realised just how much being on the bank keeps me same.
12 months I have worked my ass off, and when I could fish I couldn't get a peg as everyone was off work fishing... Then to run salt in the wound we're put on a pay freeze (again)
I just want to get out fishing 😭
In reply to Post #47 Totally sympathize with your circumstances, my syndicate is off limits as a similar journey time, though I at least have the local rivers.
Yep we are all struggling and fishing brings so much joy to us all.
Fingers crossed 🤞 we get to enjoy our fishing in it’s entirety.

In reply to Post #46 This local travel is what's stopping me...
So some background, I work on the ambulances, I have to travel 40mins to my station, its also where my club lakes are located. So Its OK for me to travel into work (to deal with covid and potentially put my life at risk) but on my days off I ain't allowed to do that same journey to do that one think that helps me clear my mind.
The mind boggles over it all. We're all running on empty and most of us are struggling.
I would love to do nights, but would settle on days but I cannot even do that as I'm meant to find somewhere to fish in a city.
Rant over 😂
In reply to Post #44 Same for me, would love to be doing days, but I would be bending the locality rules so I'm not.
In reply to Post #39 Couldn’t be more wrong I don’t smoke and I don’t even drink I haven’t for about 4 years, but what ever you like doing is upto you 🤣
I just don’t do day sessions when I get enough time to go for 48hrs every other weekend, some of the best fisherman I no are the same. I am very active and mobile while fishing always moving swims but just don’t see the point in going for one day Simple really 🤷♀️
Plus I can’t go anyway no where local to me that I can fish at the minute, my 2 syndicates are over 30mins away and the day tickets are not in the same area either
Some people are just bitter and twisted to the way some of us go about our fishing, I’m more interested than most so to say I’m not that interested just because I don’t do days only is a load of ****
In reply to Post #39 I'd love to do the days, often more productive at this time of year but travel restrictions mean it's a no go... Think many are in that boat... Fine if your venue/s are local, whatever the definition of that is...

In reply to Post #10 The fishing has been so much better without time bandits camping out in the best swims.

In reply to Post #37 No worries mate. Hope you get better soon 👍

In reply to Post #33 Couldn't agree more....
'I don't do day sessions'
translates to me as 'its too much like hard work and I cant get p*ssed or stoned out my box so why bother'
Suit yourselves - more space for the rest of us who are grateful for the fact we can get out at all
In reply to Post #34 Frankly, I still think its too soon to be easing lockdown. Sending kids back to school is a massive issue and very quickly we could have yet another spike in numbers. Couple this with a higher risk of mutation due to high infection rate and vaccination, it seems like a recipe for disaster.
I would rather we wait another 2 months. Let numbers fall dramatically, give the hospital staff a bit of a breather and keep the vaccine being rolled out.

In reply to Post #34 Don't get tied up in this 'no overnight stays' stuff... This is exactly the same as last May. And the AT resolved it (after a bit of a fuss). I'd suspect from this (if the 'leak' is correct) that we can probably travel and do nights from roughly that date. So allowing a few days for the fisheries/clubs/syndicates etc to get sorted, probably the weekend around 2nd/3rd April may be the starting point.
In reply to Post #29 I would think too it’s looking like late March - restrictions lifted on non-local travel & “sports” facilities opening. Still a mention of no overnight stays though.
From BBC:
It is understood that the first phase will be split into two parts:
Phase one, part one (from 8 March) - All schools expected to open with outdoor after-school sports and activities allowed. Recreation in a public space - such as a park - could be allowed between two people, meaning they would be allowed to sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic
Phase one, part two (from 29 March) - Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households are expected be allowed, including in private gardens. Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts could reopen and organised adult and children's sport, such as grassroots football, could also return
And from 29 March it is also understood that people will once again be able to travel out of their areas - although guidance will likely still recommend staying local, and overnight stays will not be permitted.
I agree that everyone wants to get there night fishing back, we all do. But everyone that says I can’t wait to do nights again as I don’t do days. absolutely bull**** . Fishings fishing. If you enjoy it you’ll go with what chance your given or your obviously not really that interested

I have little to no hope that the plans released tomorrow will be sensible and well thought out. It’s not as if the government has shown any form of leadership during the last year. So wish to be proven wrong.
And night fishing shouldn’t be allowed not yet far more important aspects of life to sort out. I’m longing to go yet it’s the least of my worries.
In reply to Post #7 No more than normal mate, don’t matter what had happened even before covid a lot of places where a no go for me anyway with it being so busy. It’s the way carp fishing has gone now unfortunately, the only day tickets I fish are a couple that don’t let every single swim to be filled leaving at least a couple free.
In reply to Post #19 Plenty of day ticket waters open, but a lot of the ones shut know that its probably better being shut and furloughing themselves than the amount of money they’d take at the mo.
In reply to Post #18 No many day tickets are shut due to this reason like tennis, golf, bowling etc
Sadly I’ve witnessed folk when we could go fishing in the last lockdown misbehaving. Just an excuse to get pi55ed with zero social distancing and then drive home the next morning clearly over the limit.
Do you think a fishery owner wants to risk loosing their lease or all the bad press due to these individuals.
I want night fishing as much as everyone else. Sadly it’s the minority that ruin it.

In reply to Post #11 If it was just overnight socialising, why don’t they allow tennis, golf, bowls, etc, etc, etc?

In reply to Post #10 Ah, don't be like that. I'm so looking forward to waking up next to the bankside on a misty morn, nothing beats it.
Days only is well pony.

In reply to Post #7 I disagree it’s the idiots whom use the night to have a social, with no social distancing under the cover of darkness.
Think it will be a little while longer.

In reply to Post #1 Let's hope not. The fishing has been so much better without time bandits camping out in the best swims. Day only fishing has a lot going for it. As soon as night fishing gets the green light, everywhere will be packed out again. Thank God for syndicate waters.

In reply to Post #7 TBH with the amount of people that’ll go fo a sess, I’d give it a miss anyway.
Similar thoughts to me. Like the rest of the nation, I just want to go fishing, it’s gonna be mad

In reply to Post #1 I'd be happy to be able to get out for a day session.

In reply to Post #6 Remember it’s the travelling aspect that the night ban is aimed at. Hence all the people being fined when they went to see the snow.
They’ll allow nights, but say you can only travel 10 miles
TBH with the amount of people that’ll go fo a sess, I’d give it a miss anyway. Imagine what day ticket lakes like Linear, etc, will be like

I hope so but I just can’t see it, I don’t do sessions no more so waiting for the green light for me to go for a 72hr at least

In reply to Post #4 I think it will be when other outdoor sports like golf etc are allowed. I agree tho, desperate for a night on the bank and not slightly pushing the definition of 'dusk'.

In reply to Post #3 not sure if it will be Monday or the 8th. High chance imo, unlimited outdoor exercise is usually one of the first restrictions lifted?

In reply to Post #1 Hoping so we are nearly in March and dying to get out for more than a short day.

In reply to Post #1 Who knows. It’s all getting a bit boring now. Will be what will be
