In reply to Post #17 Someone I know went over the cranham lake at the time and said it’s so shallow and small Makes you wonder what on earth they were planning in their heads
Real real shame I haven’t found anywhere since channels where I have enjoyed my fishing so much with the various depths and features on there and the space and how quite it could or was mostly was unbelievable and the fish were beautiful I was quite lucky over there in terms of mirrors as they were few and far between on there I had a couple really grey mirrors mid upper twenties beautiful fish and the pretty one a few times and the bigger commons were immaculate

In reply to Post #16 Another clown that obviously thought he was a fishery manager !! Desperate some of those fish had a proper history.

In reply to Post #15 Defo true a good mate of mine was fishing the lake at the time. There might be a few channels survivors in the cranham pit but not many. According to my mate the owner kept stocking it with loads of small carp after the channels fish went in and was even warned by the blokes fishing it that with the amount of weed in the lake and with that many fish disaster wasn't far away and he didn't care

In reply to Post #14 That is an absolute travesty if true!!

The fish went into a little lake on cranham Rd off the Boreham Rd where shortly after going into the lake most died after they over stocked this with loads of small carp. Dont know if any of the channels fish survived but defo know most died

It’s such a shame with what happened to that lake, but like most of the land around there, if they can build a housing estate on it, they will?
I have many happy memories over there ‘guesting’ as a teenager, I think i may have caught my first double there as well?

I remember caring to the island and thinking it was miles.!! Reality is it must be 50/60yards . Lol

In reply to Post #9 Same as me Mike cut me teeth on Channels is so sad when I drive past the lake .
Sure there’s still fish in there .
Remember when the old road was further back and it was quieter on the road bank.

In reply to Post #8 It’s shocking but money talks unfortunately. Fished their as a teenager just getting into carping.

In reply to Post #6 The left hand side of it will all be houses right up to the waters edge. The far cliff end will be flats built into the cliff face. There are pumps running to keep the water level 4 feet down on usual levels.
Such a shame for the local anglers.
Lake side future Home owners will be screwed when the pumps fail, home insurance probably be null and void, how on earth do they manage to get planning permission for this ?

In reply to Post #1 I never got round to finding out about membership over there, oh well, too late now 😆

Google madden homes channels and you can see the plans. Whether there are any fish left would be anyone’s guess.

In reply to Post #4 What’s happening with the lake itself there was all sorts being said about pilling and building houses around the lake then about filling it in and all sorts of crap
I spoke with Dave scales about a year before he passed away he said the fish were being netted and moved but can’t see how they would of got the fish like that from that lake
If people are still fishing there must be fish still there

It’s a disgrace !! House’s and flats all being built and as already said the fish were netted and moved to another lake.
