In reply to Post #29 The 12'6^ dream maker intrigue should be renamed smile maker as it puts a big grin on my face everytime i pick it up whether fish attached or not!
You were definitely right though about Harrison be the best available at the time and made in UK.,I bought 12 ft 2.75lb ballista blanks (available funds always meant I could only afford blanks) and they served me well for the best part of 20years,never felt the need to upgrade but the dream maker was just another level

In reply to Post #31 I still have a NW 12' carbon 2 & a 1.75 that I built from blanks in 1984/5. The rods were sold like this. I also have two Hutchinson Spirolite Horizons. These were carbon/kevlar, 12' 2.5 tc. Great design with a stiff butt and compound tip. I built them for a bloke in 1985 who didn't get on with them so I bought them back. Gorgeous rods. In the garage I also have a Tricast 13' 3lb MUR. Ridiculously lightweight rod but rather nice. This is also mid 80's.
The memories.

In reply to Post #29 I’m currently using two 12ft. 2 3/4 dream maker enigma. Bought them new about 2002. Fantastic through action rod. I bought them in Belgium. They were very popular at that time. I was very lucky they were my first carp rods.

In reply to Post #28 The original dream maker you have along with the leslies of luton insights are probably two of the best carp rods i have ever seen and used.

In reply to Post #21 Yes the original dream maker mk 1 was built on a brown harrison blank ,
They were designed and mostly if not all built by alastair bond.
If you have some of them i will buy them off you.

In reply to Post #20 Do you know what blank (brown blank) the original rod hutchinson dream maker intrigue 12'6^ is made on by anychance?

In reply to Post #19 Built all my north western rods myself , the blanks .were as thick at the tip as the harrisons i build these days are at the butt, as i said in the day they were ok , by todays standards not so, my first saturday job was at north westerns factory in grimshaw lane middleton.I much preferred the tri cast rods at that time period.what i did like about them was they sold blanks and full kits for anyone to build .

In reply to Post #17 Have a pair of NW 1.5lb rodcraft Kevlar 12ft which i use for tench which have superb through action and built my own first 'proper 'carp rods on their ss5 11ft 2lb tc glass fibre blanks which had a great action (and lots of memories).,also have their 2 piece landing net handle with the spiral wrap fitted with a fox trigger block.
All quality items built in the UK which im sad to say is small percentage of the gear available these days

In reply to Post #17 I had 3 x 1.5s as my go-to Tench rods, had all sorts of t.cs in the kevlite range for everything else.
We'll agree to disagree on the crap bit though Jeffire

In reply to Post #13 I was only joking about be valuable.its just such a lovely rod I would like someone else get to use it and to appreciate it .I would but I have 2 so surface or small venue rods already.
I keep asking but which courier do people send rods with?
In reply to Post #11 Yep the nets were really good , rods not so, i had all sorts ss, dyneema , medium range, long range , all utter crap compared to todays offerings , someone will buy it but you wont get a great deal of money for it.
In reply to Post #12 It's only as valuable as what someone wants to pay. Not rare really,to get top whack for it you need to find someone who wants one to pair up.
In reply to Post #11 Does that make my rod more valuable then?can't be many that are as new.i think the bag still has the label on it,,!
Seriously though is it worth listing it inthe classifieds on here?it would make a superb floater rod.id use it myself but love my shimano twin power 2.lb for surface fishing(even bought a spare in case I had an accident with it!)

In reply to Post #5 Also have a Bruce Ashby rocketeer spod rod I want to advertise.any ideas on value?its been used but not abused.original fuji rings etc
In reply to Post #6 It looks like its never been used.not a mark on it.if I listed it in the classifieds on here which carrier company is best with rods please?
In reply to Post #1 If it's in pristine condition I'd reckon around £60-80 tops. You may get a bit more if someone is looking to pair up with one they already have.If you had a set of 2 or 3 you could possibly have got around £100 each.
