In reply to Post #27 Ordered the 20lb clear for D Rigs

In reply to Post #27 Not much between them apparently,a quick steam never harmed anyone 😁 I favour fluro hook links but with think link not a fluro I think it’s more reliable, think I’m gonna order some in .50 25lb

In reply to Post #25 I bought a spool of the thinking anglers think link when it came out, i prefer amnesia as with the think link to get it straight i had to steam it but with amnesia it just pulls straight and is very user friendly

In reply to Post #25 I think Oz Holness likened the think link to the amnesia

In reply to Post #24 Have you seen Thinking Anglers Think Link, looks very similar?

In reply to Post #23
Careful, the company will be bought out by some billy big bollucks and then you'll pay a tenner for 20m spools

I've used amnesia for years, when I started fishing it was spinning for Bass using Amnesia as a leader/hook length, Amnesia was the leader/traces when beach casting for Smooth Hounds, now for most hooklengths in my Carp fishing, totally reliable which gives me confidence. Top product.

In reply to Post #21 I’ve tried crimps on 30lb amnesia and it’s very good
Tried it on twenty and it slipped, under a quite a lot of pressure at home
Can’t confirm 25 though
I find amnesia pushes out normal bottom baits
Although to be honest I prefer a semi push out
Also I find it stiff but soft like already mentioned
That’s what I like about it👍🏻

In reply to Post #19 Sea anglers have crimped it for years on hook traces. Do check every one though.

|
In reply to Post #19 I havent tried as it knots down so well, finishing up like one of those fused links.
I used a once through the eye and four turn grinner with the 20lb.
If you were to try crimping it maybe best to try with the 25lb.

In reply to Post #18 Is Amnesia crimpable 👍

In reply to Post #16 I was able to test out some rigs in a clear margin yesterday.
I was using 20lb clear amnesia as my boom (5-6") with a ronnie swivel and one rod had a wafter and the other had a 12mm balanced pop up.
I had an unsleeved quick change clip at the swivel end to allow a small bit of movement, it works like a loop but without tying a loop knot.
Dropping the lead into 2ft of water meant the rig followed it the lead straight down, but the boom still pushed the rig out and it fell away from the lead with no looping.

In reply to Post #16 Yes that's exactly what I meant, thanks for that

In reply to Post #14 25lb amnesia is a favourite of mine too. I know what you mean Chuffy. You can pull it straight and it will push the bait away from the lead as it falls like a stiff material, but you can still knot it, it doesn’t kink and it has a bit of give like the softer materials. Plus you don’t have to buy it on poxy 10m spools.

In reply to Post #14 Stiff yet soft

In reply to Post #1 25lb Clear for booms and hooklinks, like it because of its stiff characteristics but it's also soft at the same time

In reply to Post #12 The great thing about Amnesia is the price because its not marketed to the carp fisherman you don't get the added carp tax. 100m of Amnesia in 15lb or 20lb will last ages!

I used the 20lb clear as the 5" boom section on a ronnie rig, 4 turn grinner either end, quick change clip at the leadclip end and the qc ronnie swivel thing at the other.
Had a nice double on it.

In reply to Post #8 Yes it's is a good material. I use it 70% of the time depending on the bottom. I just have to say one thing though it's not as strong as Fluorocarbon when it comes to fishing in heavy snag waters. Have guys here that fish the material as leaders that found out a bit late
. All in all its 1st choice for combi/hingr boom rigs here for most anglers. I found it to be stronger than most materials for combis and knot strenght is unrivaled.
In what you refer to I would agree. Your boom would outlast your leader. It truly is a great material mate. I crimp mine and then change out the hooks and soft braid sections. Never had the boom go on me before. Used it in Rocky areas,d ence snags even over fresh water mussel.
Cheers

In reply to Post #1 I've not used it in a a very long time, probably early 0's but I wouldn't hesitate to use it if it's the same as it was.
I still have some knocking around somewhere...hmm.

In reply to Post #7 The different colours of Amnesia have different suppleness.
Clear Amnesia is stiffer than black from my experience.
I know for years Terry Hearn used black as his boom on Hinge rigs.
I use both on combi-rigs with no problems.

|
|
In reply to Post #7 the amnesia has more stretch in it and in some cases is thicker in diameter than fluro so im sure it would stand up to more abuse.
when i use it i find it a nice material to handle

Would people say the knot strength is higher on 20lb amnesia than a 20lb Fluoro ? With a figure of 8 loop ? I’ve just got a spool in 20lb and feels so much better than a fluoro, want to try it with a combi rig, I normally use 20lb IQ2 but the amnesia seems a better all rounder stiffness wise.

In reply to Post #1 Have for years. Excellent stuff in both the 20 & 25lb.

In reply to Post #4 I think a few companies just rebadge it

In reply to Post #1 30lb boom on my hinge and combi. Never had a problem using Amnesia. Been using it for a long time now.

In reply to Post #1 I use it for both.
