I got so peed off with this happening I just stopped using coated braids years ago. Now use combi rigs/ fluoro/ braid. Too frustrating tying a rig then it's ruined when you tighten the last knot.

The atomic one I found the coating comes off/splits too easily.

Interesting, I think Atomic jelly wire is the best out there, esp is okay but for me not as good as jelly wire.

Which coated hook link is it?
I've been using ESP Tungsten Loaded and had no problems whatsoever with 4 turn grinner.
Maybe go real slow when tightening down the knot with plenty of saliva.

Had that years ago but don't use those brands anymore. From memory I used to dab the knott with cooking oil to lubricate and bed it down slowly without stripping

Certain brands do that I'm afraid I'm assuming you are wetting the knots before pulling them down but certain brands still do it like Avid and Fox in my experience, I just don't use them brands anymore

Hi,

I always noticed that when using coated hook links they always strip when tightening knots down. The knots I'm using are the figure 8 loop and 5 turn grinner.

Any ideas how to stop it?

Thanks
