In reply to Post #13 I’d maybe look at you hooklink

In reply to Post #26 Exactly. My hook size has been trending up over the last few years but now doing well (I would say better) with size 6 (pop ups) and 8s (bottom baits and small pop ups).

In reply to Post #24 I must be the only out there using size 8’s??
Using old ESP Raptor curve shanks ( bought in bulk) or the newer cryogenic curve shank replacements.
10mm pop ups, 6 inch boom, not had a hook pull to date and had quite a few fish on a difficult venue where the smaller presentation seems to pay off judging by other people’s results generally

Size 6 mugga 12m pop up ,60 or so carp nailed with only 1 hook pull ,minimum of 3 oz lead.

In reply to Post #21 I've been using a size 6 mugga for 15mm. No hook pulls over the last 3 years
In reply to Post #21 I use 15mm.

In reply to Post #20 Which size popups do you guys use with a size 4 mugga or curve hook?
In reply to Post #19 Size 4 muggas for me only lost 2 fish to hook pulls last year.

In reply to Post #18 Kranks are utter dog toffee IMO.
J Precision curves in a size 4...or their wide gapes also in a 4
In reply to Post #1 Use 2. Its not going to result in less bites and it has the best holds.
In reply to Post #16 curve in 4 for me
In reply to Post #1 J precision hooks size 6 long shank curve.
Only hook i use now. I have about 6 packs so I don't run out lol

I’ve been using it with size 6 angling iron curves, used a 12mm pop up and landed 13 from 13 so far, mates that have used it with bigger hookbaits have experienced hookpulls, I only use it for fishing a low pop up over bits and pieces, if I’m fishing boilies il use a multi or a chod.

Size 4 mugga or size 4 esp trighammer
In reply to Post #12 I experienced Hook pulls with size 4 barbless Kranks with a ronnie.
Its a barbless water and alot of weed, wide gapes have been recommended to me, but im unsure?

Another one for the size 4 muggas, my favourite hooks
Mugga hooks every time rather than Krank hooks, never had a problem with size but I also prefer using a size 4 on this rig

In reply to Post #9 Check the hook bead isn’t slipping and is correctly positioned

I use a Mugga in 4 and never lost one once hooked, just struggling to hook one atm 😂
In reply to Post #1 J precision long shank curve size 6 👌
Only had 1 hookpull out of 30 fish landed this year
What size were the fish and how sharp were your hooks?
In reply to Post #4 Both bottom left lip hook holds on the ones landed. Approx. 6in boom.
Looks as though it is a hook size thing, judging by the answers. I'll get on the size 4's and see how I fare.

In reply to Post #3 Also had issues with 6s. Swapped to 4s and 2s and the problem went away.
In reply to Post #3 In size 4 Muggas I haven’t lost a fish, size 4 kranks I’ve had the hooks pull and straighten. Where were the fish you landed hooked? And how long a boom?

In reply to Post #2 Size 6 hooks Charlie.
In reply to Post #1 What size hook were you using? It seems to be a more common occurrence when using the rig with smaller hooks.

Used Ronnie Rigs for the first time over the weekend, had four hook ups but two resulted in hook pulls. Is this something that anyone else has an issue with?
