In reply to Post #12 Sorry to bring up an old thread. I acually had 3x UK50s the last being Colin. The 1st being Dave, the bait boat in the photo wasnt mine. Anyone that new me new i had a carplounge bait boat.
Lion Carp i took to court, before it could go to court they put them self into voluntary liquidation. I became a creditor however there were many others in front of me in the que who never got any money back for work they had done for them.
The 1st series of lion carp rods were good, the second lot where they were being built on an unknown blank in his garage were not.

Found an old thread with a quote from Southpork
"I was a consultant for them cerca 6 months, in that time i along with other consultans was told the rods were built by daiwa, as were customers and as was his adverts. It came to light that the rods were NOT made by daiwa. The 13ft rod i was demoi g at the shows was not the same blank as was going to customers, and rods were dropping to bits. It is claimed that the rods are caperble of over 200yds, they are not, hence why there is a high turnover of consultants at lion carp. To be fair my actual BLANK on the 36r was not to bad, but the build was shocking and they cannot be used. Its going through court as we speak.
From john."

In reply to Post #1 I believe they were one of the Diawa infinity blanks
They had a few sets made with all the trimmings and took a load of pre orders when showing them at shows, then what came through was absolute *****.
I saw a set first hand and the quality of build was a disgrace - whipping on eyes with gaps in, air bubbles in lacquer, reel seat not inline.
They approched a well know builder to start making them after this and he sacked them off soon after beucase they were messing him about with supply of parts.
Im pretty sure southportrock had his fingers burnt by them as well eventually, i know that he had a lot to do with him (the northern monkeys was hilarious) and dig him self some right holes.

In reply to Post #19 Don't know the bloke or the history, but having read his article and a few things spring to mind, its heavily weeded and he's got a bait boat behind him, his mat was to small for fish and he struggled to lift 50lbs!
Why is he carp fishing in the first place?

In reply to Post #5 I remember him. Had a 50+ or something on a day ticket water and thought he was going to be a "name" with 1 fish.
Not long before that he was asking school boy questions on here.
Another attention seeker. Soon came back to reality.

In reply to Post #8 Still there, just clicked on it...this is the description, although a quick call to the only person I know who has had blanks rolled for him by Daiwa said "Be aware".... lol::
Lion Carp 33 RS Pure Players Rods
New never been used.
Wealthy people always buy the best and these have only been sold to wealthy people!
Built in Daiwa's factory in Scotland to Lion Carps specification, these really are a joy to use.
The blank was designed from scratch and has no resemblance to any Daiwa blank before it. Cut, rolled, baked and built in Scotland!
Built with the following genuine components
Daiwa hi modulus pre-preg carbon
Finished in Daiwa's 1k from tip to toe
ALPS black reel seats
Fuji guides 50mm butt ring
Fuji anti frap tip 16mm
British machined winding checks and butt cap
Only 30 of these were ever made. Built to be a soft players rod with a real fighting curve, put the blank under real pressure and it will produce you power through the butt to over 3lb. Light lines, light leads big fish ..... truly awsum excitement.
In this build there were only 6 rods ever built so they are a bit special.
Cast a 2oz lead with genuine 12lb line 100 yards. Those that know about these rods know just how much fun they are to use.
Lion carp are no longer around but those who bought their products know how good they were and also know they are worth holding on to.
Comes with certificates of authenticity. No certificates then they not the genuine product.
Cost when new £470 each!

In reply to Post #1 I have had the pleasure of using a rod made by this company incredible hands down the best rod I have used. However the bloke who owned the company is a total P**** on a level I have never witnessed. I actually at first thought it was an act. He is the only reason the company no longer trade.
