Tackle companies are a joke nowadays. I've found Fox to be one of the worst culprits. Everyone remembers the maple fire pans scam that came out some years ago. They didn't even try to hide the fact it was another companies product with a 50% markup on the original price. Since then they've copied so many other companies, the latest being their new landing nets, a blatant copy from Fencl.
I try to buy from either local shops or 2nd hand nowadays. Not paying the ridiculous mark up tackle companies charge. Be glad when a few go out of business.

You can see in his previous videos he uses Shimano ultegra ci4 if I remember correctly fortis snugpak sj9 Nash indulgence bed vass waders a power barrow etc. Personally I would rather help support local shops and the people that work there.
I just find it funny all this came about in the month or so before his bait company went live and now he's selling it for £16 a kilo or 10kg for £130. Good marketing to be fair but not for me

You hit the nail on the head here.
I don’t think anyone minds paying a little extra to support a UK business and UK jobs because we understand the overheads involved with running a business.
The big issue here is when a company takes a generic product and then changes the colour and puts their brand on it but increases the price to unacceptable levels. Otherwise known as unfair trading.
A 15 litre green plastic bucket costs £5. If you try and charge £11+ for it that is carp tax.
The industry is digging a big hole for itself because by copying everyone else’s products and trying to sell them as a new innovation at overinflated prices the only thing they’re doing is damaging their brand and reputation.

My understanding of "Carp Tax" is where you can buy the same product for less money but without the branding. Take the gizmo that allows you to get the dregs out of a gas bottle into another fuller one. Solar Gas Link Valve £24.99 same thing on Amazon £7.99 That's Carp Tax!!

Ricci Connolly on the Korda podcast this week summarises well the value tackle shops bring beyond just product on a shelf - they're a hub of local knowledge, advice and community. I totally get people wanting to save costs and there are lots of examples of product with an unnecessary carp tax applied but that's where community (and this forum included) helps other anglers save - not through monetised links.

I like walking round a proper tackle shop , I pick up stuff and compare which has served me well as iv often gone in for one item only to buy something that suits me better . Unfortunately Browns tackle shop in my local town shut down through no fault of its own , they pointed you in the right direction , got stuff in very quick often going the extra mile . They knew info on how places were fishing , try getting that off temu

I have used loads of hooks from temu.
For barbel on the river I use them as they come, and for carp I hand sharpen them with no issues.
Also lead clips, Kickers, anti tangle sleeves, leadcore and other bits.

I like what he's done. Never used Temu or similar before, but bought a few bits and bobs to try it out. Don't think I'd buy hooks, line or alarms, but that's a personal thing. The rest of it, I'd definitely take a punt on some cheaper gear. Definitely going to save some money because of this. Don't care if he makes a few quid via sponsored links, good for him.

It is a weird mission that he is on and after seeing a few videos of him, he is just as much of an attention seeker than all the names he weirdly calls out.
He called out Elliot Gray for sacking a fish that died a few weeks/months later? I've just seen a video of him catching 'floppy tail' in which he sacked the fish for a good few hours waiting for first light, re-counting the tale with 2 strategically placed outlaw pro buckets for advertising.
Weird. Hypocrite.

Has he actually used the 23 different reels on there? Says in his video that he uses everything he puts up. I don't think so, and it is coming across as a grift to get subsidies from Teemu links.

Let's be honest, it's crazy the money Korda have made from essentially selling leads, hooks and little bits of plastic and I don't blame anyone for buying from the likes of temu.
I've been buying lots of bits from Bank Tackle for quite a few years now and I've absolutely no doubt that they source all their products from the likes of temu.
I watched a couple of videos from the guy that has set up this no carp tax website and what I took from it is that he's basically just very, very angry that no company in fishing industry wanted to pay for him to go fishing because he catches a few carp.
Very angry and entitled is what comes across. I don't believe for one second that his motivation is genuinely for the good of others, even though that will quite likely be a byproduct and if any of the big companies had taken him on and given him what he thinks he deserves, then he would would never have mentioned the carp tax that was filtering down to him.

I have used Lots of the products listed there. Hirisi is a decent brand for terminal tackle. Some of the hooks they Produce are a bit thicker but for this price you can file them as much as youd like.For plastic bits I don't find any difference between them and named Brands.

Whilst there's plenty I'd be happy to use from Temu etc, i must admit, I'm not sure id risk electrical. Mainly from a warranty perspective.
Hooks, I have no issue with. Whether they're exactly the same or not, we can't complain of quality/reliability just because its not a big brand. The amount of stick Korda have got over the years for hooks breaking proves that.

Same in the early days of AliExpress, Fast-tech, etc, lots of cloned products that were short on quality.
I have bought a few small items of end tackle on AliExpress, at those prices and quantities I'm not complaining about hooklink tails, tungsten beads and rig rings
Still wouldn't buy the hooks.. because they are exactly the same..😉
