In reply to Post #11 Lol not fishing but reminds me of something that happened yrs ago. A mate was a butcher and worked 5am till 1pm. On a Friday he would get home and cook a massive curry as when we finished in the pub 10 or 12 would go to his for Moore beers and a curry.
So this one Friday I've walked into the pub and he's in on his own and I asked where his Mrs was.
He said at home and probably wouldn't talk to him for weeks so I asked why?
He said as you know I cook it up and last job is chop the chilli's and put them in five mins before I turn it off.
Well the Mrs come home and she wanted some. Fun started touching him up so he responded doing the same but forgot he hadn't washed his hands.
She was sat at home in a cold bath. She had got out twice started to dry and the burning started again so jumped straight back in the bath.

In reply to Post #10 frankfurter flavours aren't subtle, had a couple of bags years ago..might have been SBS.
And a tub of pop-ups in the bait bag. Crab & frank if I remember correctly. Minging.
Whilst I'll happily lob a couple of Trinidads in my currys I wasn't sure about using curry powder too much chilli but I only had Madras in the cupboard.
I experimented with chilli powder in baits 15 odd years ago, hot hands..hot other parts if not careful.

I think I've a Archie Braddock book somewhere with a feature on GM, he loved his spices, I'll try and dig it out.
DNA S7....blend of 7 spices....sounds familiar ...it's there alright but is it subtle...hmmm.
My only experience with Frankfurter type flavouring was some Dutch lads way back when...it was anything but subtle....open the bag and it was like being smacked around the chops with one...not that I know what that's like
Random ramblings and a bit of humour.

In reply to Post #8 The most simple answer is that i don't want a garlic/black pepper/pepperami style bait.
Never asked about it either.
Secondly whilst I may occasionally have food that contains garlic and in the past have fished with a couple of baits containing garlic EO and powder; I really can't stand the smell.
Rolling it, handling it. Fishmeal and garlic? No thanks.
Hmmm, there is that but you could say the same about a lot of baits and I usually start at 25-50% of recomemended levels. which is why I asked about the curry powder/garam and not the frankfurter.
Not that I've ever seen a frankfurter in the wild...apparently this uses nature identical flavourings but the oil base seems to boil off quite quickly.
Fairly uninspiring until inclusion is between suggested levels.
I have 6 test batches in the freezer, i expect as with all good currys ..they tend to wake up when defrosted.

In reply to Post #7 What's the problem with using garlic /black pepper?
When using artificial flavours, a lot of the time if you can smell them then you've used too much.

Improvement at 6ml/ 8ml kg and 30g,
Again rolled baits smell like spicy frankfurter once sealed in a bag for a couple of hours ..wouldn't say it tastes like it smells.
One sitting in a bowl of fresh rain water for an hour is meaty.
Still don't want to go down the garlic and /or black pepper route.
I'll pick up some Garam Masala at Tesco tomorrow for comparison.
May end up using it on the river once the rush dies down

Frankfurter sausage oil and liquid garlic is a great combo, for a summer fishmeal bait.

In reply to Post #4 If it was a curry I'd send it back and ask if they usually served dish water
Salty, no heat, no curry or spice taste.
Could be old Natco Madras but I made a curry last week and could have wiped a naan bread over my 'pits and had it for breakfast.
Obviously I'm not going to eat a plate full...
Frankfurter isn't very strong , can just smell it in the bag and I dropped a couple in some water.. separated from anything else there is barely a hint.
More like dipping a finger in the salt water of a frankfurter jar.
Burb says 'taste not aroma', I started cautiously below the recommended starting level so 6-8ml/kg or entirely possible that the two are cancelling each other out .
Give the mixes a night in the freezer and see if they mature?

In reply to Post #2 definitely no garlic for me, gotta roll it, have it near me on the bank
made baits with garlicpowder before- don't care if the fish crawl up my line into the net
however I'm none the wiser after making two 500g blends with with the equivaent of 15g & 25g/kg Madras and four 1 egg mixes with 3 & 4ml/kg Frankfirter
The shed stinks, my hands stink, my clothes stink and I can't tell what the bait smells like..
