Evening chaps
I'm booked on Holme Fen for a week starting 27 April 2025

We've got an exclusive and there will be 8 of us fishing (17 or so swims).
At present there is myself and 2 mates plus the trip organiser and 3 of his mates.
We have one spare slot.

I understand this kind of venue is not everyone's cup of tea and if you would like to voice your opinion on why you think that then please do so on another thread.

It's the main lake (Meadows) .. 26 acre

If anyone is interested send me a PM.

Last September I had a good trip, 4 fish landed. The previous September I blanked all week (but others caught)

Our group organiser has allowed bait boats, yes, but there are some rules to avoid them ruining other peoples fishing:
You can't drop a bait on a spot that you can't reach with your marker float...
all the usual obvious stuff, respect each others water etc etc.

Due to the size/shape of the lake the only area where you could annoy someone with a boat would be out in the main open part of the lake.
If someone were to decide to be an arse then everyone would see it and polite words would be had.

Pump Hole can't interfere with other swims.
Jakes & Island Double Bay are behind a few islands/bars and you can't get over to Four Strong Winds water. Those two swims are quite a way apart, so there's plenty of water between them.

East Bay has it's own water

Sunset Point you can't go out too far or you will be over Party Points water.

On last years trip there were no issues with bait boat users (less than half the anglers wanted to use bait boats preferring casting), no toys were thrown out of prams, no arguments/stress. This is why the organiser likes to get the lake exclusive and then anyone who 'fits in' gets re-invited to the next year.

I've been invited for quite a few years now, but only accepted the offer in Sept 2023. I blanked, but most people caught.

I was offered fishing again in 2024 and decided (after licking my wounds from 2023!) to go for it again. It was a tough week but I got lucky and managed to land 4. I lost 1 that came off in weed after a min or two of playing.

I'll share a few pics from last years trip.

It's £5k for the week I believe, divide by 8 = £625
So yes, it's not something you do often, you could join 6 clubs for that money, or some syndicates...but you wouldn't get to fish a lake with this many quality big fish

Taken from the website/page I linked
"We estimate the Meadows boasts approx. 100 fish over 40lb with maybe 50 over 50lb and an impressive lake record of 75lb."

Swim draw is 10am on the Sunday morning, done by the lake owner of his bailiff.
You can walk around 9am to 10am and see what swim/area you fancy.

From my 2 trips there I would say that the fish will move due to the wind, but definitely from angling pressure.
I've sat in a swim with fish, then they've left and I've had the opposite happen, I've heard them boshing and moving into my area during the night.

Having just the 8 anglers give us options to move if the fish go walkies...
