In reply to Post #22 Carpology were there last year also!
Bl**dy otters. That's not so good.
It looked like a nice restaurant & thanks for the recommendation. We both love Thai so I'll have to treat mr's clonker sometime. I'm only 15 mins away so on my doorstep really.

In reply to Post #21 Im not sure too be fair, i would have said it was syndicate members only, i walked my dog round there and counted up 5 bivvies.
I had a 17lb mirror from the cabin lake but it was hard fishing, im sure i had a glimpse of an otter in the lake too one evening.
There certainly trying to promote the place Ali Hamdi has been there and Dave Levry was there match fishing the smaller lake when i was staying over.
If your local id recommend the Thai on site, they also do takeaway its very good.

In reply to Post #20 I think there were some near to it but I didn't notice any actually on the lake. I was under the impression that the championship lake was for members only & not for the holiday makers? - I may be mistaken.
It is very weedy & I've never seen anyone fishing it the last few times I've been. There did appear to be some clear spots though. It is a nice looking lake.
Did you do any good while you were on the cabin lake?

I had a cabin on the cabin lake which gets rammed, there was even people fishing the opposite bank which is against the rules.
I walked around the championship lake and that looks lovely but very weedy, i didn't think there was any cabins that backed onto it though.

In reply to Post #18 I went & had a walk round about a month or so back.
I was put off a little by all the extra cabins, pods etc. TBH, & I imagine it would be very busy during the warmer months. They seem to be constantly adding & improving.
For anyone that's interested they offer several different tickets options.
A full ticket was around £250 from memory or you can join for £30 & pay as you go, which gives you access to the championship lake.

Also used to fish this place, way back when, used to work there for a while, whilst I was at school, cutting the grass and helping mick the Baillif.
Wouldn't mind getting on the championship lake, just a shame the cabins are taking over that side as well now.
If I remember correctly, they did loose a load of fish, but have had a few put back in, I think it was on there Facebook page if u scroll far enough back.

Awesome, thanks! I'll have to drop in & get more info on the tickets.
Do you have any plans of going back over the winter?

In reply to Post #15 Yes they did last time I was there, in October

Do you know if they still offer a season ticket please?

It’s changed so much now, I still really like the place and have been going since the late 90s but it has easily over 70 lodges now. 2 poles lake has cabins, and they have started to encroach on the Championship Lake. The restaurant & bar is nice when it’s open. Least you don’t have to pay for electricity now. lol

Yes that's quite a walk from memory!
It really is picturesque & that's a big part of the appeal for me these days - I must be getting old..
Only about 15mins from me so also on my doorstep.

In reply to Post #11 When I was fishing it I used to walk round and fish the point and cast back to the road bank, I was 20 years younger and miles fitter but by god that was a long walk, before I had a barrow too.
It has suffered with poor water quality over the years so that maybe it. There was a bit of khv doing the rounds at about the same time, maybe why it was suspected. Plus people coming from all over the country anything is possible.
It is around 8 minutes from my house and a lovely lake.

There were several large weed beds when I had a look around. There were plenty of fishable spots though. To be honest I'm not put off by weed as my last club water was basically one big weed bed during the summer months.
I seem to remember there being one or two pumps going when I was there. Presumably for oxygenation. So I wonder if it could have been a water quality issue rather than disease?
I wasn't able to find anything on the GOV site regarding KHV

In reply to Post #9 I’m not certain it wasn’t khv but I know they lost a few.
The championship lake was doing 30s 20 years ago. Fairly certain it did a 40 too. When we were hauling fish around 6/8lb from the two poles lake in the mid 90s the bailiff was taking them from us and putting them in the championship lake as it was fish soup and the water levels were really low.
I fished it for a couple of years around 20 years ago, it got mega weedy soon as may/June hit, more or less unfishable but I think they may have done some weed cutting in recent years.

Thank you for the info pearbo much appreciated.
So they did have some issues. Good to hear that it wasn't KHV - you never can believe these chinese whispers..
I had a walk around the championship lake a few years back & I saw quite a few chunks. It's a shame to find out that they've likely lost some of these, do we know what the problem was?
I think I'll go & have another look after the weather settles. I'll post back on here if I find out anything new.
Cheers!
