Not really a comment about FAS, but if you are in a good syndicate and it saves you money on on midweek travel and B&B’s then it’s probably” paying for itself”. Even Wellington looks reasonable compared to a couple nights in the Reading Premier Inn per week for a few months every year!
If you’re getting bored of the syndicate that’s another matter

In reply to Post #30 Still a lot of members as it's such good value for money. Better if you can go midweek.

I'm just restarting this thread to see if there are any more up to date views on the club. I'm in the area a bit for work and at the moment use my syndicate near Reading as a place for overnighters midweek but considering whether or not to renew that ticket as it's getting expensive (the water itself is awesome, but I'm trying to weigh this against what use I'm getting for my money). So I have been considering this ticket, which is a fraction of the cost and gives a good number of waters to choose from. I am aware of the KHV on Yately South which is a shame, and I would avoid those lakes. Any views or feedback much appreciated

In reply to Post #26 Yeah I thought it might be mate, definitely be giving it a go when I have a bit more time!

In reply to Post #27 I'm very fortunate to be a midweek angler which is why I've taken the gamble 🙂 to be honest I had heard about Match and South, so was more tempted by Nursery and Copse, Tarn Pond looks lovely too and the Stillwater lakes. There is plenty of choice and I can be relatively flexible with days as I run a pub, so I'm sure I will be able to settle on somewhere

Just renewed my ticket for the 3rd year. It is fantastic value but unfortunately means the member count is very high. Be prepared for some very busy lakes, especially over the next few months. Match, Badshot lea and South Lakes very busy but seem to quieten down in the colder months. More chance if you can fish midweek or early on friday morning if you want to do the weekend.

In reply to Post #24 I think that's Warren pond, looks a nice place. My ticket starts on the 1st so it will be nice to walk round a few of the lakes and get a feel for the place.
I've heard all the stories about Mill Lane being a funny place too, sadly you just never know whether it's true or locals making it sound rougher than it is to keep people off
I also really like the look of some of the Basingstoke canal stretches too

In reply to Post #23 I had a Farnham ticket 20 years ago it wasn't as rammed as what i'm reading here .. I think it was called Cut Mill the place I liked the most had a couple of nice fish out of there but you were never sure what damage would be done to vehicles in the carpark and it was a bit clicky over there not friendly at all ... 1 season was enough for me ..

In reply to Post #22 I'm looking forward to it tbh. I've got a 2 week old little girl at the moment so will probs spend first few months doing days dotted around venues, then once things have settled would really like to spend some time on Mill

In reply to Post #21 I heard mill lake is known as the divorce lake lmao

In reply to Post #20 Think match and south are pretty busy.
On mill lane there’s a ticket system I think so at least you’ll be guaranteed a swim but as others say it’s meant to be hard water so can see people dropping off after spring

In reply to Post #19 I'm due to start in April mate, when I spoke to someone at the club they said match was their busiest lake. Purely at a guess, I can imagine Mill Lane being very busy early part of the season until a few drop off once they realise how hard it is

In reply to Post #18 Just got my ticket, can anyone say what lakes get the busiest I’m looking to start on the Mill

In reply to Post #12 Definitely not the case in this instance bud. It was that bad well before Corona, and has only got worse (if even possible).
