In reply to Post #4 Pretty sure they are typically UK bespoke Baitboats with Toslon Fish finders.
Capable enough of finding holes in the weed.
I was there a couple of weeks ago. Plenty of weed in front of 12 and 13, the rest was fishable, but only going to get weedier.
Can you borrow one?
Or there is bargain Actor plus with Deeper arm for sale in the classifieds (no deeper supplied...)
Edit - You would need a thumb for that though...

In reply to Post #1 I think Dave hires bait boats for a reasonable price for the week. Better than buying one that sits in your garage for 51 weeks of the year.

In reply to Post #1 Please be aware that cheap fish finders will not pick out weed so be careful what you purchase/hire.
I don't know what sort of echo sounders he offers but you could try Ernie's bait boat hire he's on fb and located not to far from you.

Hi,
Looking for some help and advice please.
Off to Abbey in October and been speaking to the Bailiff who said the weed is very bad this year and he recommended the use of bait boats.
Two problems here:
1) I don’t own a bait boat and the cost to hire them is quite steep
2) I don’t really fish weedy waters so not much experience.
Can a bait boat help me find holes in the weed? I guess it needs to be paired with an echo sounder to do that?
If I was going to buy a boat what would you recommend?
Finally have people had good results there not using boats when the weed was bad?
Thanks
